Jamili & Andrew are a very pleasant and responsible couple who showed initiative.
They adapted to life here and were very reliable . Despite the crazy weather, they worked outside and
were thorough when carrying out daily tasks in particular tackling the weeding!

We loved our stay at Christine and Tony's. They each are exceptionally kind, friendly, and generous. We enjoyed getting to know each of them. At the same time that they are warm they are also respectful and courteous of the workaway's space. The accommodations are excellent with the workawayers getting a whole cabin which is spacious enough (while… read more still cozy and tidy) to themselves. Note that they are considerate as to not overlap your stay with those of other workawayers, as well.

As for the chores, we enjoyed the peacefulness of landscaping (mostly weeding) in the morning and taking the dogs for walks in the afternoon (you also will have small dog duties each morning and evening). Christine and Tony offer a good balance of work and play/rest for the workawayers. For us, it was just enough physical work to keep us healthy and active without draining us of energy to be able to do other things (please come with a willing attitude to lend a hand but I do not think you need to worry about overworking yourself).

We also were able to participate in several religious and cultural events in the local town and we felt warmly welcomed even as obvious outsiders to the community.

I know there are lots of glowing positive reviews so for anyone who might for whatever reason still be skeptical (why else would you still be reading this review?), I will name the "challenges" for your stay here (hint: they are mostly precautions for people of different abilities or those less accustomed to rural life):

-The home can receive heavy winds so be prepared for the cold during certain seasons. You will need to split your own firewood (already cut) to keep warm in colder months (but you can also use your stove to cook on/in). Your wood might not burn very well (we came in during an unusually rainy season), please look after your health when dealing with smoke and the materials you burn for lighting fires indoors.

-The small town is a 5-minute walk away with a bakery and a small grocery store (that is more pricey and does not accept credit card), the closest supermarket is a 30-minute drive. You might be able to take advantage of doing your grocery shopping when Christine or Tony go.

-The dogs are very sweet but can be stubborn making it difficult to go on longer walks on the road; fortunately there are enough fields and small trails nearby to avoid this challenge. You can go for long (practically endless), peaceful walks up and around the mountains/hills or possibly ride their bikes to get around on your own time.

-You might have to learn how to connect a propane tank the Spanish way (which is not difficult but is slightly different than most other countries). If the water is too hot (or too cold), simply adjust the thermostat knob on the water heater above the tank. On the other hand, the property can function both off the grid (solar) or on the city's grid so you should not have to deal with much inconvenience (the internet in the cabin is strong and reliable enough to work from home, btw).

These "challenges" might make it sound rougher than it really is. They truly have nice amenities and you always have visuals and stay within earshot of town while at their house so you are not completely removed/isolated. The town looks beautiful when lit up at night and I think you will find your stay to be peaceful and relaxing as well as fun and interesting. If you ever get bored or need a laugh, just start up a conversation with Christine or Tony; they are wonderful.
