Description
On May 8th I am moving to the Sydney suburb of Wollstonecraft which is 10 - 15 mins by suburban train from the centre of the city and about 10 minutes walk from both Wollstonecraft and Crows Nest stations. 15 Minutes from St Leonards station. Trains go into the city at least every 10 minutes - often more than that. At this point I am looking for one or 2 people from the 11th for a week. You could come earlier but.....
I am fully vaccinated and require the same of a helper.

Sydney is a great place to visit. I am also happy to help with language.

Before you read further - I only take Non-smokers (meaning you do not smoke at all - not that you smoke outside). If I find that you do smoke you will be asked to leave that day - I (and my children when they are here) are all asthmatics. I also cannot do scents, particularly old spice, any spray on deodorant and lynx. I am allergic to mint so you cannot chew gum.
Here are my boundaries: I try to be as eco friendly as possible and I ask you to consider the environment by not throwing into the bin things that can be recycled or composted and that you don't waste electricity or water. Australia is a country of drought and I consider this every day and try to save as much water as I can. I follow the Sydney water guidelines for water usage. This means having 3-4 minute shower - no longer - even when washing your hair. Not washing up under a tap of running water, not washing hands or brushing teeth while running water and only washing your underwear in the washing machine - not in the shower, in a basin or under running water. When using a washing machine it needs to be full before you use it. You will also be asked to keep the bathroom clean so that no-one else has to clean up after you and I ask that helpers are ready to start work at the time agreed.
If you decide that you are going to ask to stay at my house I will take it that you agree with the boundaries' above and that you will not overstep them. If you cannot keep to these please do not ask to come, ie, if you think you can have a 15 minute shower you will find that you will not be able to.
I generally only take helpers for one week. I can take 1-2 people. If you come together I will expect that you will cook together rathen then individually.
Being a helper means doing any job (within reason) that your host asks of you so if there is something that you can't do - ie, bad back, then it would be good to tell me first so I can think of jobs that might suit you better.
My new house has a far smaller garden so although I am in need of people who are happy to weed you will see that there isn't much at my house to do but I may take you to other people's places to help them out (using the time you owe me to do this). I need odd jobs inside and outside the house, including help with the computer when I am having a problem. The work is not hard but I do like people who just get in and do it rather than people who take as much time as they can to do one small job. You will also be required to clean the kitchen after your evening meal.
My children are now all working and living elsewhere. I am a grandmother to 2 gorgeous children - soon to 3.
I have been doing this since 2009 and have never increased the hours of work I ask for even though prices have gone up for accommodation. I take people for 1 week.
I will ask you to work a longer day in order to give you whole days off to enjoy the sights of Sydney. This means that you can do more with your days off than you otherwise could if you worked part of the every day.Your working day is between 8.00 - 5.30 - but not necessarily all those hours.
Currently I am asking for 2.5 hours a day for board only. You will buy your own food, cook for yourself and you will need to clean up after yourself - including wiping down all benches and if there are a couple of other things that need washing up - also doing those.
Your work days depend on what is happening here at the time. Prior to your coming I will organise your days of work and days off. The days I have asked you to work may need to change occasionally. If you are trying to sell a car, buy one or have an appointment I can be flexible and if the days I ask you to work are not good for you then we can discuss other times to work. If you know about this prior to coming you will need to sort this with me prior to coming rather than leaving it until you do come when I may not be in a position to change days. If you want to make an appointment on a day that you have agreed to workI do expect that you will talk to me about it prior to booking it rather than booking it and then telling me you need to change work days. I will help where I can to enable you to do the things you need to do.
You may be required to work on a weekend if that is good for me although I do try to give helpers one day off as travel all over the entire Sydney network is cheaper those days than on weekdays on all modes of transport. This includes travel up to Newcastle, down to Wollongong and west to Katoomba (Blue Mountains). As weekends are often good days for me to work if you are going to sit around the house and not go out and make use of this cheaper fare then I will ask you to work those days and give you another day off.
I no longer have wifi but can give you access to my hotspot when I am home for searching the internet but you will need to supply your own internet if you wish to watch movies.
We are a shoe free household - this includes thongs (flip flops). If you need house shoes I can lend you some clean, washed, ones.
Please feel free to ask any questions you have.
If I have offered you a place and you don't respond back to me within 48 hours I will feel that it is quite OK to offer that space to someone else. Helpers complain that hosts don't answer. Hosts complain that helpers don't answer. If you will be travelling and don't have internet you should also let me know so that I don't give that space away but it is not fair to me, or to other helpers, if you are trying to hold a place with me while looking for other places, or that you get upset that I have given a spot to someone else because you didn't tell me what is going on for you.
Please start your message with the date you wish to come. You should make your initial email to hosts short and put anything longer that you wish to say to hosts in your profile, in English. If a host can take you during the dates you give when you contact them the host will read your profile to see who you are before replying to you.
I look forward to meeting you and hopefully welcoming you to my house.

Hébergement
Your group will have your own room. If you are 2 I may be able to offer separate rooms at different times but generally you will be in the same room. Your group will need to share a bathroom and possibly also share with other people.

Autres infos...
There is a lot to do in Sydney and surrounds. It is about 2 hours by train to the Blue Mountains. Public transport is readily available.

In terms of car parking. Initially I won't be able to offer you a car space in my garage and then will only be able to off you a spot if you have a small car. There are a number of free car spaces dotted around the area which you will need to grab either early in the morning or late at night. Apart from that parking is 2 hourly in this area but at this point it is fairly easy to park in the street above mine and move the car every 2 hours until you get an all day spot. If you need to move from that spot and I am available I can put my car into that spot to hold it for you for later.
