We were extremely fortunate to spend three weeks at the rescue and are truly grateful for the experience. Gaby is a wonderful person — full of light, compassion, and endless love for her animals. She was an absolute pleasure to work with. The dogs and cats here are incredible — so full of character, resilience, and affection. Every day spent with them in nature was a gift. Whether it was morning walks, playtime, or quiet moments in the sun, you can feel how much love lives in this place. If we could have stayed longer, we absolutely would have. The animals and Gaby deserve all the help they can get, and I hope future volunteers come with love, an open mind, and compassion for these amazing animals and this beautiful project. I can’t recommend it enough.

This was our first workaway experience and exposure to permaculture. We didn't know much going in, but Jackie and Julia happily shared their knowledge and experience. A lot of the work was challenging (especially creating new veggie/crop beds), but there was a good balance between harder tasks out in the sun and easier, more shady ones. We did a lot of painting, greenhouse work, compost harvesting, and planting/fertilizing grasses and trees. The typical work day was 8 to noon-ish, but they had no problem with us working 6-10 to beat some of the heat! We also had a great time getting to know the 3 volunteers up at the farm with us and the other volunteer staying at their current homestead. We made several group dinners, played games, and had fun getting to know Siquijor together. The farm also has a sweet resident dog, LC, and several neighbor dogs that liked to escort us up and down the driveway. The only major downside was that there weren't any cats or farm animals on the farm yet. We're looking forward to returning some day and seeing the new homestead and programs up and running!

I am very grateful to have been part of this place for two weeks. It is intense in a good way, you get the full dose of dogs! It is great to see that dogs that would have no chance elsewhere find a loving home here, as long as they dont get adopted. It sometimes moved me to tears to see how much dedication goes into doing everything possible for the welfare of the animals in this place. All the volunteers, the team, and especially the owner put their heart and soul into it, and the dogs reward you with unconditional love. You should be aware that you won't find any luxury there—all donations go to the welfare of the dogs, because there is never enough. You get plenty of food (3 meals), a clean bed, and the common room is cozy. The work itself is demanding, but that's mostly because of the hot weather. The tasks are fairly distributed and you have plenty of opportunities to rest. Endless dog cuddles included <3 I wish you all the best, lots of strength, and maybe we'll see each other again when I come back :)

We stayed with Vidar for 2 weeks and had a really great time. We helped him with cutting down the bushes in the backyard. We had no experience before coming here but Vidar was really helpful and easygoing and explained everything to us really well. When we got tired of the bushes we made jam, build a bench and carved a pumpkin. Vidar also volunteered to drive us around and give us a sightseeing tour were we also got icecream. In addition he went to the supermarket with us and always bought us everything we needed, including chocolate :). He and his friend who stayed also at his house for a few days were really nice, open and genuine people. He has a really awesome place and you will have an incredible view while working. We can recommened staying with Vidar for everyone who likes the nature, the quiet and working outdoors. Thank you for everything! We hope to come back sometime and to welcome you in Austria someday!

Mari was only expected to stay a few weeks, but she was so wonderful and helpful she ended up staying 3 months. She was always pleasant and cheerful, happily taking on any task that needed to be done. She learnt quickly, used her own initiative and was consistent and reliable. I have no hesitation in recommending her to any job she might apply for. Thank you Mari, I appreciate your help and enjoyed getting to know you.

We had a great time at Milford House! As Deej had a work trip we didn't get much time together, but we felt comfortable with our responsibilities and the rhythm of the house and enjoyed what time we did have. It is a beautiful house and a wonderfull property, full of things to do. We took to working the garden and did a lot of work clearing blackberries. The dogs were fun and Olive the cat was adorable, enjoyed mucking in with the other volunteers, it was a good group! Grateful for the opportunity, would recommend.

Harry is a very welcoming host who genuinely wants his volunteers to experience the local culture and way of life. His garden is located about two hours’ drive from Ho Chi Minh City, followed by a short two-minute boat ride across the river. It's perfect for those who enjoy peace and quiet, as there isn’t really any entertainment around. There’s a gardener named Mr. Six who lives in the garden. He doesn’t speak English, so we communicated through Google Translate, but he’s a great cook and very kind. If you’re looking for a highly social experience, though, this place might feel a bit isolated. The tasks are light, mostly washing dishes and doing some simple gardening work. The bathroom and shower are outdoors (without a roof), which can be inconvenient when it rains, but the room itself is quite luxurious and comfortable. Overall, it was a wonderful and unique and memorable experience.

I will treasure the time I had with Bea and Marco for a long, long time. They are incredibly kind, funny, and welcoming people. I felt immediately at home with them and all my needs were met. Bea's cooking was delicious, the bedroom was private and clean, and the garden was truly gorgeous. The work asked of me was very fair and they made sure to show me how to do the things they asked of me so that I could be successful. I helped around the house with cooking and cleaning, maintained the room they rent as an Airbnb between stays, and helped Marco in the garden with planting, composting, and raking leaves. Bea made sure I saw the countryside and the nearby town so that I got the full experience. We only spoke in French, which was what I had wanted, and they were very patient and corrected me when I needed it. I recommend this workaway to anyone with a good work ethic that is looking to spend time with wonderful people in a beautiful and quiet location. A bientot!

My feedback echoes those of other hosts: Coni has all the makings of an anchor in your Workaway roster. She's got the personality to get along with everyone in the space, plus the maturity to make decisions, ask questions, and be responsible. Absolutely great person to have in your space and someone I felt comfortable with immediately. Ticks all the boxes, just wish we'd had her longer!

Waw, we had an amazing time with Hanna/Sunshine as a volunteer! We made very rapid progress with the tasks because she is so hard working .and efficient. She painted walls, deepcleaned a roof, removed very prickly bushes, dug long vegetable beds and did it all with a smile! She is delightful with children and a a very interesting person to talk to about meaningful subjects. Her enthusiasm was really contagious in the group and we truly felt blessed to have her presence. Thanks a million again Sunshine!

I spent two months volunteering at this place and I had an amazing experience. I was lucky enough to meet both of the owners Dannie and Dave and I can say they are wonderful people, very welcoming and generous. Viola is an incredibly patient and positive person. She gave me a thorough training and I really appreciated that she explained everything in detail, also sharing some of her tricks. This way, the work was easily understandable. The tasks are simple and actually enjoyable and the vibe is very chill, I felt like I wasn’t even working and I had fun checking in the guest and answering their questions. The reception area is so cozy and I loved hanging out there. The hostel itself is a gorgeous space, it is nestled in the jungle, the kitchen is open air, there is a gym, a yoga space, an ice bath… it’s so easy living there when you wake up and you see the sun shining through the leaves. It gave me such a sense of peace and happiness. Everyone working at the hostel is so lovely, from the cleaning ladies to the construction workers to the yoga teachers. Also having other volunteers creates a beautiful environment and provides you with some stability as the guests are always coming and going. The backpacker’s community is made up of the most open minded, kind hearted and interesting people and this place seems to attract the best of them. You will love getting to know the guests. You need to have a certain degree of adaptability but if you are able to look past some discomforts you might encounter, you will see that this place will gift you with a new outlook on life and you will notice what truly matters. You will meet people that will become friends for life and live in an incredibly beautiful place. I am so grateful for having had the opportunity of volunteering here, this was my first workaway and I know it will be a hard one to beat! Thank you to everyone for welcoming me and making my stay so enjoyable, I feel so lucky to have lived this experience.

My time at Colitas was my first volunteer experience, and I'm so glad I did it there. Besides the work, most of which was done in the mornings, we had plenty of time to walk the dogs and explore the area while we "worked". The dogs were all so sweet, and it was wonderful to help give them a better home than what they had before, or never had. Spending time with Emily, Angus, Charo, and especially the other volunteers was always a lot of fun and a great way to meet people with the same goals. Thank you for the unforgettable time with you all :)

We absolutely LOVED hosting Evelyn (Pei-Yi) and David (Guan Yu)! These two were so genuine and lovely, thoughtful and appreciative. The kids very quickly warmed to them, and their school teacher knowledge went down a treat with both kids. Evelyn and David are fun, caring, and keen to please. We adored David's cooking, and they both taught us how to make authentic Taiwanese dumplings, which was a great treat, and a fun activity for all of us. They coped well when we were without power and hot water for two days, following a severe storm, and helped us sort out the aftermath of broken trees and masses of washing. During their stay, they did lots of potting of seedlings, cooking, cleaning, tidying and weeding. We especially appreciated that they were always keen to entertain the kids, even when not working, drawing and playing games with them both. Thank you David and Evelyn! We hope you have a wonderful adventure and find somewhere perfect to settle
