For those looking to fully immerse themselves in the beautiful Finnish nature and a simple way of life, this is the perfect place. My experience staying here was truly amazing! Jakob was an excellent host and happy to share every aspect of his culture and way of life. I learned many new skills, and was able to share some of my own. I would love to visit again in the future!

Erin stay with us in starting in December and she mainly helped us in English and Maths lessons. She tried her best to work and communicate with children and communicate very well with them. We wish her all the best and hope we will host her again soon

Timothy stayed with us for 11. Days. He mainly helps us in our English, maths and computer classes where he help children to basics of Data collection and some information about Gender inequality.and some physics lessons too. Children always enjoyed to talk with him . And he use translation app very well to communicate with children. We wish him all the best for his journey. Hope we will meet again with him soon.

She is very kind, always smiling, and has a calmness and maturity that is rare for someone her age. She is intelligent and able to remember tasks after being told just once. She understands very well why things need to be done in a certain order, and she is also good at thinking for herself and finding faster, more efficient ways to finish tasks. She got along well with both Charlie from Hong Kong and Yang Yang from China, and built a great team with each of them. She has no food dislikes at all and always enjoyed everything, saying it was delicious. Sometimes she would look slightly amused or puzzled watching Charlie’s eating habits—such as eating all the vegetables first when meat and vegetables were meant to be eaten together—or his slow pace, which also showed how mature and composed she is. Because she is so thoughtful and considerate, everyone liked her. She was especially proactive in helping with cooking, which is actually quite rare among Western volunteers, as many cannot cook well and are often reluctant even to wash dishes. She truly loves dogs and treated each of them with great kindness. Whether bathing them or drying them, she was always gentle and attentive, carefully thinking about how to make the dogs feel comfortable and not stressed. She is very good with her hands and is especially skilled at detailed tasks like making dumplings. Honestly, I don’t think there is anyone who could dislike her. I would highly recommend her to any host.

George stay with us around a week in December and we had a good time with him. He teaches some drum lessons and children enjoyed his classes. He also helped us in making Christmas Cards in Primary school. We wish a good luck to him and love to host him again for more days.

I stayed one week with Tara and his family and I had a very beautiful time. He is really reactive so it was easy to get to the place. The accommodation is really good, the food also and the village, with the fields around are so peaceful. I was helping the family by gardening, cooking and at the school by giving some classes with wonderful childrens. Never more than 3h/day so you have a lot of free time. I went to a jeep tour with him, and you have bicycle available so it’s easy to move around. Tara and his wife are really nice people and they will do everything to make sure you have good time. I recommend this place a lot and I hope we’ll see each other again.

Saodara Saodari I had the chance to spend one month (initially 3 weeks, but I extended my stay because I loved it so much). Thanks to Tasya, Afif, Putra, Aceng, Rina, Fathya, Repa, Angie, Rizqi, Farhan, Faiz, Ibu and Bapale (and also Laura, Christin and Evan). And I can truly say that I will keep this stay in my memory forever! From the very first minutes, I was welcomed with great hospitality and immediately felt at home. In the village as well! Everyone wants to share a moment with you and will always give you a smile. (I was welcomed so warmly that after many laughs, a local name was even given to me!) I was able to learn about permaculture: its techniques, plants, composts, and more. During this month, I worked in the garden from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., and had my afternoons free. Here, we eat together, share meals, cook, and laugh together :) They also generously introduced me to their religion, its history, and its practices. Very beautiful moments 🌟 Tasya and Afif also gave me the opportunity to develop personal projects. For one week, during my working hours, I was able to create paintings and also start a documentary about them. The place is very lively: there is always something to do if you want to discover, someone to talk with, a cat to pet, or a beautiful photo to take. I hope I’ll be able to come back and visit you again ;) terima kasih! Sarah was very easy to be with she followed instructions really well and completed the tasks I set for her to a high standard. She was very keen to help with the big projects I needed help with. She was also a fellow musician very humble about her talents and so she fitted in well with my musical environment and another Workaway who was also a musician. I enjoyed her company, our conversation and her friendly manner. I wish her well in her travels in Aotearoa. NGA mini Sarah.

We had a fantastic 3 week stay with Yosl, Dana and their two wonderful kids in beautiful Diamond Creek. Our days were full of interesting and rewarding work which included home and garden maintenance, renovation projects and general household help (cleaning, meals, helping with the kids, etc.). There was good communication around jobs to do and flexibility in choosing projects that align with your strengths and interests. Dana and Yosl also frequently expressed their appreciation for the work we were doing which was great. They were very warm and welcoming and we felt at home right away. We really enjoyed playing with the kids and sharing meals together with the family, especially the Shabbat dinners where we got to experience and learn more about Jewish culture and rituals. The room we slept in was spacious and comfortable with a private bathroom. Getting into Melbourne was straight forward on the train taking about an hour. We were often given rides to/from the station which we really appreciated. We highly recommend staying here, especially if you like varied projects and enjoy a family environment. Thanks so much Dana and Yosl for a great experience. We really enjoyed our time with you and the kids!

Working at this hostel was my first Workaway experience, and it couldn’t have been better. David, Berny, and Proxy are incredibly kind, welcoming, and caring people :) They always made sure everything was going well and that everyone felt comfortable and had a great time. I learned so much about the local culture, whether through conversations with them or the activities we shared together. I already miss the Hostel and would highly recommend it to anyone!! Thank you all so much for this unforgettable experience and all the wonderful memories!🫶🏻

Antonia stayed with us for about two weeks, during that time she assisted us with all sorts of tasks on our farm, we have only good memories and good things to say about Antonia, she is welcome to stay with us again anytime! Five stars from us

We absolutely loveddd our time with Penne, Blair, Rob and Lynda. One week wasn't enough! Their house and gardens are gorgeous - just spending time working there (with Truffles of course) was a treat. We just felt so welcomed, relaxed and at-home here and hope to be back in the future! The best Workaway experience we have had!

I volunteered here for close to two months, and the experience was nothing short of amazing! Mama Riki is a wonderful host—kind, considerate, and full of knowledge and insight on travel, culture, and life. You truly learn so much from her. The staff were incredibly kind and always willing to help. You get the chance to learn the local language, Chichewa, and work closely with Malawian people, making it a rich and meaningful cultural exchange. Felix, the manager, was very supportive and always ready to help whenever I got stuck. And Chef Peter—his meals were amazing, and the vibes during downtime were always great. The work was flexible, which worked perfectly for me as I was volunteering part-time. We agreed on flexible hours, and I had my own room for the entire stay. The lake is right there, with beautiful views you get to enjoy every day. I helped with designing bedsheets and linen, upcycling materials (which was really cool to see in action), kitchen cleaning and prep, and occasionally assisted at the bar and with technical tasks. Overall, a solid 10/10 experience. Zikomo kwambiri! 💛

We had a wonderful, restorative time with Mark and Maz. They truly embody the spirit of workaway - generosity, sharing knowledge, open-heartedness and fun. Their home is stunning, full of birdsong, flowers and bright stars at night. I loved learning about the incredible work Mark has been doing to restore nature to his little corner of Motueka, and appreciated his passion and willingness to teach us. Our accommodation was comfortable and we had all the basics for cooking tasty meals. If you suffer from bad hayfever, make sure you bring anti-histamines! Thank you so much Mark and Maz for a wonderful experience, I hope to visit again one day!

Russ and Rachel are very kind and generous, they took us in with open arms and immediately we felt at home! They have a beautiful house with nature all around it, with Wallabys hopping around in the mornings and evenings and birds feeding in the troths. The fridge was always stacked and we usually ate dinner together, which was always great. We did some gardening, helped clear the area around the house from stones and wood, and remodeled the driveway to make it more weather proof. We also helped Russ take images of coral skeletons for science communication. We absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this Workaway, we would do it again in a heartbeat. We wish them both the absolute best and hope to see you soon, who knows, maybe in Europe;)

Mish and Nige are the most welcoming and kind hosts. Their enthusiasm and dedication to protect and restore the land is very inspiring, and it's incredible to see the difference their efforts have made in just a few years. The area is such a beautiful nature haven and feels so alive. You're surrounded by bird song, native plant species, and peaceful spots to do yoga or meditate. The work was varied and interesting, and I especially appreciated that the reasoning and value behind what we were doing was always explained to us beforehand. The pre/post work meditations that Mish led and delicious nourishing meals were definitely highlights! The structure of this workaway allows you to meet other volunteers and creates a nice and sociable atmosphere - which is perfect if you're travelling alone! I highly recommend this workaway for anyone who loves nature and wants to learn about conservation in NZ.
