Maarten was amazing with the animals and he really knew how to build things . His help was so appreciated .
Unfortunately he wasn’t here long enough for me to get to know him properly, but we hope he might choose to come back here so we can rectify that.

Liz was our first workawayer and the 2 weeks we spend together have been so wonderful! She was a huge help in our garden. Working independent and hardworking on cutting grass, weeding and feeding our animals. We also had the chance to spend some lovely afternoons and evenings together, chatting, learning about languages and cultures, sharing stories and memories, visiting events and cooking/eating together. We are extremly grateful for having had the chance to host Liz and we wish her all the best for her future travels and dreams

We spend 3 months at Ray’s house, it was a great journey. Thanks to him we were lucky to be introduced to so many amazing people. He always did his best to give us the opportunity to try so many different things/activities. We are so grateful for that. If there’s something you are interested in, don’t be shy to ask him about, you can be sure he’ll manage to help you.
Lady Phoebe, the little sunshine of our trip, is always down for cuddles and walks. She is the cutest dog we’ve ever met in our life. If you have the opportunity to meet her, you will definitely miss her afterwards. Rei, you already know how thankful we are for the time we spent together. Thank you again ☀️

10 star experience!
We were welcomed in the farm family from the very moment we arrived and the place felt calming and dreamy.
After only a few steps we wishpered to each other that this couldn't be real, it looked to great to be true, everywhere we looked there were thriving trees and beautiful flowers! Furthermore we found ourselves with 4 beautiful furry girls, to play and cuddle with!
This experience isn't just a learning opportunity to understand the priciples of organic farming and permaculture.
The farm will make you understand what it means to be part of a community in Kenya, you'll find yourself working towards the sustainability of the environment and also empowerment of people and the land.
The food provided is amazing, simple, local, organic ingredients always cooked with a sprinkle of magic touch from Coletta. We loved our typical accomodation, we felt blessed! During our time we were involved in many different tasks on the farm, we always talked them out in the morning before the day started. Everyone you'll come across is so friendly and if there is any questions they are happy to answer. New ideas are elaborated together so definitely worth to bring them up as they are always valued and needed to progress towards the goal.
We were meant to stay 3 weeks but we ended up staying two months, we were greatful to have met the team and we know we will be part of the family. This is what you get in exchange, not an experience, a family.
To wrap it all up, if you are open to getting carried away by the positive energy of this farm and willing to make an impact on your life and their lives, this is the place to be, you'll feel right where you are supposed to be.
We felt loved, valued, spoiled and forever greatful.
Thank you Jana, Coletta, Titus, John, Ali.
Your friends,
Angus and Adri!

This was my first time doing Workaway, and I couldn’t have asked for more. Douglas and Simone have built a beautiful life for themselves and their kids. They made sure I felt part of the community during my stay, and got me involved with events happening with their neighbours and in the villages nearby. The area around the house is lush as well and is great to explore on foot or by bike.
There are plenty of interesting projects at the house, which meant that I got a lot out of my experience staying here. Douglas can turn his hand to anything, and he explains how to do things in a patient and clear way. Simone is a font of knowledge for everything plant-related and has plenty of inventive natural solutions to help grow the work-in-progress food forest.
I really enjoyed my time here and am keen to stay again!

We spent two super wonderful weeks at Jigear’s place ! He’s such a kind and welcoming host who made us feel right at home 🫶.
He got his friend, Kamilla, to pick us up from the airport too (thank you so much 🙏) ! During our stay, we helped out with clearing out his yard and making clear paths to the yurts and sauna, which were pretty manageable. He was pretty chill on the project deadlines so that was really cool. Throughout the days he even brought us around town, big Almaty lake, and to his apartment where we met his mother and son! They were so warm and fun and we’ll miss them dearly 🥺.
We’re truly grateful for the hospitality and the good company. Thanks for everything, Jigear! All the best to your future endeavours :)

Inge is a super sweet and happy person—a real ray of sunshine! It was an absolute joy to have her around, and we clicked instantly over our shared Dutch background. She helped out at the shipyard in Portimão. While the tasks themselves were standard shipyard work, the real difference is who does them and the attitude they bring. Inge did everything with a big smile, making it look as if painting and sanding are the most beautiful things in the world! 😁
Alongside the boat maintenance, she also took great care of the onboard household, including cooking and cleaning. I highly recommend Inge to everyone. With her positive energy, I think she would also excel at organizing events, front desk work, managing social media, or anything client-facing.
Inge is welcome to come back!

Jules was a friendly and welcoming host, and I felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The animals were also very lovely and easy to be around, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The work was overall light and manageable, with clear expectations, so it was easy to settle into the routine.
One of the highlights of my stay was having the chance to ride a horse, which I was really happy and grateful for. Jules is also a wonderful cook — I especially enjoyed her Asian food, which was delicious and made me feel very well taken care of.
I also really appreciated the pantry project she has created for the community. It is meaningful, thoughtful, and shows how much she cares about helping others. Overall, I had a positive Workaway experience with Jules and I’m grateful for the time I spent there.

I had a nice time at Pia's place in the middle of the countryside. The old school next to a church and farm kind of sum up what this is all about. A quite place away from hectic life. But if you have a car, you can undertake a wide variety of trips/excursions on weekends. I spend most of my time, two weeks, doing a large variety of -outside- chores. The main achievement being the initial build of an insulated chicken coop in the barn which took quite some time and effort. At the same time, I did some house & pet siting (one of my main activities during my travels) as Pia was very much engaged taking care of her mother and work away from home, which took her a lot of energy. I grew fond of the lovely bunch of animals that all had a history but were extremely easy going. As I travel alone, I did all of this on my own but whenever possible Pia made a great effort to cook and eat together or leave me something if she would return -too- late. The whole experience was a welcome addition to my trip.

Fabio and Jesse are a wonderful, sweet couple. They helped on board for about 6 weeks, and I was incredibly happy to have them here. They were a massive help and highly motivated, often working full days to get things done. It really felt like they genuinely enjoyed the work, especially as part of a team.
They helped with a huge variety of tasks: from sewing clothes and painting the boat, to being plant parents, sanding, grinding, hammering, cooking, cleaning, drilling, and even managing the sh...tank!
They are incredibly sociable, and we spent many evenings playing cards, board games, playing music, and throwing little parties with the neighboring boats.
Fabio and Jesse are also true tattoo artists. They have a very unique style, and Jesse specializes in hand-poked tattooing. I don't know much about it myself, but the friends around us who lined up to get a unique piece were all super enthusiastic. It must be an amazing feeling knowing so many people are walking around with your permanent art on their bodies!
I truly hope to meet Fabio and Jesse again, whether back on board or somewhere on land. It would be my absolute pleasure to host them again. Highly recommended!

This was my first time doing Workaway and my first time in Morocco and it was incredible. Being in Assa and volunteering at the language school was the best travel and cultural experience I have ever had.
Lahcen was a wonderful, welcoming, and friendly host. The volunteer house is comfortable and a place to make lifelong friends. There is plenty of food, tea, and good vibes. If you have any dietary restrictions, you will be accommodated as well. At one point half of the volunteers were veggies, so don’t worry about that. It is super hot in the summer so be prepared to spend days inside and nights drinking tea at a cafe or playing pool, and I recommend sleeping on the roof and sharing bedtime stories with the other volunteers.
The school is just a few minutes walk away and has the kindest teachers and motivated and funny students. You will feel at home immediately. If you are worried about teaching, it's okay and you won't do anything you are uncomfortable with. There are English, Spanish, and French classes you can be a part of!! I was mostly with Teenagers and Adults but you could be with any age, again with your comfortability.
If you’re thinking about coming here, do it. I made so many friends with the teachers, students, volunteers, taxi drivers, and lovely people who live in Assa. Plan to stay atleast a month because you won’t want to leave, I know I didn’t.

After a rough start on Workaway, I'm so glad I stayed with Janice and David.
From day one, we felt very comfortable. The trailer we stayed in had its own charm and was an absolute vibe. It quickly became our little home on Vancouver Island.
The work was varied, fair, and there was always something to do, whether it was helping around the property, taking care of animals, or assisting with different projects. The absolute highlight for me, however, were the alpacas. I completely fell in love with them and probably spent every possible minute admiring them. If you're an animal lover, you'll have a hard time not getting attached to at least a few of the residents here.
One of my favorite parts of the stay was the daily sarcastic banter with David. If you appreciate a good sense of humor and don't take yourself too seriously, you'll fit right in. He also provided me with the tools and materials to carve my own wooden Canadian souvenir, which was a really cool project and something I'll keep as a reminder of my time here.
We also appreciated being taking out for trips on our days off. It was great getting to see more of the area and experience parts of Vancouver Island that we probably wouldn't have discovered on our own. The Nymph Fall were my highlight!
Janice and David work hard to keep everything running smoothly, from the farm animals to the boarding business, and it was interesting to get a glimpse into their daily life. We learned a lot, met plenty of furry characters, and shared many laughs along the way.
Thanks again for having us and for the great three weeks!

It was a real pleasure to host Zara. She is a thoughtful and reserved person, with a big heart and a genuine willingness to help wherever needed.
She gave us a hand with our 24 month old son, helped us assemble a bed, supported us in the kitchen, and contributed to the general maintenance of the house. As an interior decorator, she was an absolute angel when it came to giving new life to some old furniture we wanted to use in a newly renovated apartment. She repainted everything beautifully, with great care and attention to the details, and the results exceeded our expectations.
Last but not least, she joined us on a fun and completely unexpected 12 km walking adventure in the woods, which became one of those memories we'll be laughing about for a long time.
We warmly recommend Zara as a volunteer. Any host would be lucky to have her, and she will always be welcome here. 😊

Audra was hardworking and responsible finishing every task.Cleaning to a high standard with a willing spirit and doing clothing repairs. She was good at checking " is this what you want" if there was ambiguity. Getting in to the agreed early start routine was effortless. Alot of tasks got accomplished and i was very satisfied and grateful at the end of her weeks stay. She was knowledgeable and very patient in helping me with getting stuff done and ordering via the computer - remaining calm and encouraging thru the usual digital malfunctioning. Emotionally and communicatively skilled. I would welcome her back :)

We spent over 5 weeks at Juliens beautiful home. First with him, in the last weeks, he trusted us to take care of his home and his animals alone.
We really enjoyed the time together, had nice conversations and learned lots of new things, for example broadened our recipe repertoire.
Our main tasks were painting, cleaning the cocoa exploitation and assisting him on the roof. Julien explains the tasks really well and detailed and wishes for strong and fast workers.
Thank you Julien for welcoming us spontaneously, we appreciate it and enjoyed the shared time.

Elea, You were wonderful.... we miss you!. it was like having a new daughter here!. She fit in completely. Every task she took to heart to go above and beyond what was expected. Elea is an absolutely wonderful gal . She entered in to the chores like the critters were her own. Our heifer aborted which brought many issues we had to deal with and Elea was right there, beyond the expected time in her chores, concerned and looking for ways to help. She always joined in with community happenings . We just cannot say enough at what a pleasure it was to have her here.
We pray for your future Elea, the Lord will direct you to do amazing things in your future. ! THANK YOU again !

I had an amazing experience in Iquitos. The first two days, I was really out of my comfort zone, mainly because my Spanish level was not good enough. Iquitos is also a really big and busy city, so you have to be prepared for that. But the family is so nice and so generous that you quickly forget everything else. The mum, Bertha, is just one of a kind : she is so kind to everyone, and she is always taking care of you, checking that you are doing well and feeling well. She is truly the best. She is also preparing the best breakfast. Everyone else is also amazing, really inclusive and communicative. The family was always offering us to join in their daily life activities and I really felt included.
About the school, some of the kids are not the easiest to manage, but they are so cute and happy and cariñosos with the volunteers. You can really feel like you are making a difference by helping them. I really got attached to these kids.
As the classes are in Spanish and that the family mainly speaks only Spanish, I really recommend to have a good level of Spanish for this adventure. If you are looking to get out of your confort zone, improve your Spanish and help children that really need it while living with an amazing family and enjoying the péruvien way of life, I strongly recommend this volunteering! Thanks again to the family for the amazing time 🙏It is for sure an experience that I will never forget and the family will always be in my heart !

I had an incredible time helping Inken get her apartment ready for the summer! I got to spend 2 weeks putting my renovation, repair and organisation skills to good use! I was joined by my partner (see seperate review from our couples account) and another workawayer in our second week so we got a lot accomplished in the time we were there! It was exciting to see all the progress we made and the Airbnb on our last day ready to welcome guests.
The apartment I stayed in was lovely and Aljezur is beautiful.
Inken was a lovely host! She had great recommendations for us during our stay. We also got to share some lovely meals together.
Inken only asked for 3 hours a day and was happy for us to keep track of our hours and plan the week and modify the schedule to our preference.
I felt very welcomed and appreciated from the start. I really enjoyed hearing Inken’s stories and getting to know her more throughout my stay.
This Workaway experience was fantastic. I would highly recommend it when Inken needs help in the future!
