Description
Hi! I am just finishing up my veterinary medicine degree, doing my finals and electives in May then will hopefully graduate as a veterinary surgeon in July. I want to go into first opinion ambulatory equine work, but I have experience with all animals big and small :) I love working with horses both ridden and on the ground (groundwork probably preferred these days!) and I have worked at a busy dog kennels before. I would love to spend some time between now and starting work exploring other countries and cultures in between being helpful! I am quiet, clean and polite, would be travelling solo and I don't have much travel experience but would love to start. I was born in Poland but moved to England when I was 3, and I still speak Polish with my family. I did used to learn French for many years in school and got pretty good at it, but I've forgotten it all now!

More details about your skills
Hopefully graduating as a vet (wanting to go into equine work) in July, so I am knowledgable on all aspects of animal care! But more specifically my experience includes:
- 20 weeks of animal husbandry placements with many species - dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep (including lambing), pigs, chickens, exotics, alpacas. 28 weeks of clinical vet practice placements, and 34 weeks of clinical rotation placements within the university, so I am very comfortable if there is any jobs involving giving medications and watching for symptoms.
- Worked at a busy dog boarding kennels during uni holidays, up to 75 dogs of all sizes/breeds/temperaments in during peak seasons working to take care of them in a team of 2-3 people. Also done shelter/charity work with dogs, cats and rabbits.
- Have experience of all sorts of equine-based industries; riding schools, livery yards, stud farms, trainers, helping with events such as endurance.
- I own 2 lovely house rabbits that have free roam of my house, Bueno and Mocha. I also share a cheeky 17hh ISH mare that I used to have full time for a while, and have had several loans over the 12 years I have been riding for. I enjoy groundwork like lunging, walking, long lining etc and have experience with youngsters. I am a gentle rider who can walk, trot, canter, gallop and do small (80cm max) jumps but I am not competitive and I am very open to tips etc - I prefer to have a little plod around on a hack than intense schooling these days. At my parents' we own a very opinionated German shepherd called Leia, so I am very used to big dogs with big personalities!
- In my gap year between finishing A Levels and starting vet school I worked at Center Parcs as a waitress, so I do also have waiting and customer service experience. I've also helped with loads of things like disovery days at university.
- I enjoy teaching older (7 ) children, I am happy to try teach some English, Polish and sciences or tell them more about the vet world. I would love to become a lecturer one day in my distant future.
- I have had a full clean UK driving license since Sept 2019 and I am most happy driving a manual and comfortable with larger cars/vans, but I may not be able to afford a rental whilst abroad.

What else ...
I do not have much travel experience as I am quite afraid of flying, but this year I really want to challenge myself to get over this fear (I have flown last year but with a friend, never alone) and explore more of the world! My availability is a bit limited with my schedule and I also have to think about my pets at home as do not want to burden my parents/friends with them for too long. I am currently waiting to see what happens vet-job wise after I graduate to see if I can plan any more longer trips, but if you want a reliable, knowledgable pet sitter that is happy with giving medications within Europe for a short trip I may be interested!
