  • Description

    Hello!

My name is Weronika, and I come from Poland. I’m a graduate of the Film School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. I spent 10 years working as a photographer, followed by 5 years as a live-in carer. I’m a quiet but friendly person, passionate about art, photography, graphic design, organic produce and clothing, meditation, and wellness. I also love traveling and meeting new people. I’ve used Couchsurfing before, and now I’m very excited about the opportunities that Workaway offers.

I participated in a Workaway project in Ireland back in 2019, but I can't see my review on the platform. It might be because my host paused their profile, or perhaps we never exchanged reviews, even though the experience was mutually beneficial. I can’t remember exactly, but I can try to put you in touch with my host if needed.

I’ve been working as a documentation photographer for almost 10 years. In this role, I accompanied groups of tourists throughout their stay in Poland (usually 5–10 days), taking photos and videos at various locations. I had to upload all the content online during short breaks between trips—often under time pressure. Working in such a fast-paced environment helped me develop strong organizational and multitasking skills. But I’m not complaining—I loved working with tourists from all over the world and feel very comfortable in international environments.

I’ve volunteered for the Jewish Culture Festival in Kraków for five years, and I spent one year coordinating the Festival’s year-round program of events and workshops for the local community. After volunteering locally for years, I decided to contribute elsewhere in the world. I spent last year in Lyon, France, volunteering as part of the European Voluntary Service. I worked in a care home for people with disabilities, assisting with daily tasks and providing photography services.

During the pandemic, I moved to Ireland and became a live-in carer for elderly people. I worked in this role for five years. It was a deeply meaningful experience that taught me a lot. I believe many of the skills I gained are highly relevant to Workaway. I cared for elderly ladies, maintained their homes, looked after pets, cooked meals, and cleaned.

In my free time, I enjoy long walks through cities or landscapes, taking photos, visiting bookstores and art galleries. I also like to draw and usually carry a sketchbook with me. These days, I mostly work on my “silly little art” in my spare time. :)

I don’t smoke, and I only drink socially. I’m a decent cook and generally prefer to cook for myself, but if you’d rather take the lead in the kitchen, I’m happy to peel potatoes and chop vegetables while enjoying a nice conversation.

I’m good with children and enjoy engaging with them. At the same time, I’m a responsible adult with experience caring for vulnerable people.

I grew up with animals—mostly dogs—and would be happy to petsit for you. I have experience with dogs from difficult backgrounds, as we often adopted rescue dogs.

Due to fragile lungs, there are a few things I can’t do:
    + Clean fireplaces
    + Paint
+ Use or be around weed killers (I’m also strongly against them)
+ Stay in spaces with house perfumes or scented candles
    + Live with smokers

I’m a friendly, open-minded, creative, and responsible person with a strong background in volunteering. If you're looking for someone with film shooting and editing skills, I believe I can be that person. I'm a trained photographer with a few minor accomplishments, though I no longer have my own equipment.

I'm passionate about the environment, so if you have a farm or an environmental project, I’d be happy to join. That said, I don't want to limit myself—I'm also open to trying new and exciting things or responding to someone’s emergency call. So if you need help with babysitting, dog care, or anything else, I’d be happy to lend a hand.
