Description
Hi, I'm Toma, born in Lithuania and settled down in Germany, where I work and live for 8 years already.
This year I decided to take a sabbatical and spend about a month and a half traveling. I work in the IT field and outside of work my biggest passion is dancing - especially Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing. Dancing brings me a lot of happiness and connects me with inspiring, wonderful people.
I chose to travel to Canada for a special reason. Back in 2020, I was supposed to go there for an exchange semester at Queen’s University, but due to the COVID lockdowns, that dream never happened. It has stayed in the back of my mind ever since, and this year I thought: why not finally make it happen?
I’d love to experience the country through real life and real connections, which is why volunteering feels like the perfect way to travel - learning from locals, contributing where I can, and sharing experiences along the way. I’m open-minded, positive, and excited to be part of something meaningful during my stay.

More details about your skills
I bring a mix of creative, practical, and people-oriented skills. I can teach dance, especially Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing, and I really enjoy sharing movement, rhythm, and positive energy with others. I also have an art school background, which helps me approach tasks creatively and with attention to detail.
In 2025, my husband and I renovated our house ourselves, so I gained plenty of hands-on experience with practical work. This includes wall preparation (spackling/filling, plastering), painting, basic renovation tasks, and general handyman skills. I’m also happy to help with gardening and outdoor work.
I’m reliable, quick to learn, and enjoy both working independently and as part of a team. I like doing things properly and take pride in contributing in a helpful, positive way.

What else ...
My main reason for wanting to do Workaway is to experience a country through the eyes of the people who live there. I really value getting to know locals and learning about the culture, everyday life, and traditions from a real, personal perspective rather than just as a tourist.
I’m also excited to try a different lifestyle, step out of my comfort zone, and learn new skills along the way. Workaway feels like a meaningful exchange - I can give my time and energy while gaining hands-on experience and new perspectives.
Most of all, I’m looking forward to meeting new people, making connections, and learning about different cultures. :)
