Description
Hello!
My name is Sam Sullivan (中文名字: 蘇尚傑) . I am currently a Fulbright grantee who teaches English in Taipei.
I graduated University with a B.A. and an M.A. in philosophy. I have many work experiences, including teaching, gardening, canvassing, etc. One reason I like Workaway is because I don't like to sit around and do nothing on my vacation. I enjoy working hard and learning new skills.
The reason I travel is because I want to learn how I can be a better global citizen. I have a particular interest in learning strategies for sustainable agriculture and design, as well as education. I also love languages, learning about different ways of life, and meeting new people.
Starting this Summer (2026), I will be doing a trip where I explore the following question: How do different people's philosophies, religions, and/or ideologies inform the way they interact with their environment and society?
This is my website with posts exploring the question I am attempting to answer: https://www.thinkflake.net/ideodyssey/
I am vegetarian and may come across as a little timid, shy, and/or a bit strange to some, but I believe you will find me diligent, polite, grateful, and a good conversationalist.
I am very excited to work with you! (: -

More details about your skills
There are many different types of jobs that I have worked. For example, I worked at an elections office, at an ice cream shop, and as back of house kitchen staff. These jobs taught me the importance of hard work, how to work well with a team, and how to interact with the public in a kind and professional manner. Furthermore, my background in academia provides me with the necessary tools to think critically and communicate effectively. Some farm experience that I have include harvesting garlic, thinning apples on apple trees, and caring for chickens and sheep. Although I have had some farm experience, there is still so much that I need to learn. I hope to learn and improve the skills that are necessary to operate a regenerative farm.
