Hi!

I'm Silja, I work in health care but whenever possible, I want to travel and explore other countries and cultures.

I started my travels in Europe; in 2021 I travelled in Finland and later had a great workaway experience in Portugal. In 2022, I went on short trips to the Netherlands and Italy. Later that year, I had my first trip to Asia, where I spent a month in Thailand, three months in Japan, and three weeks in South Korea. It was my first longer journey abroad and I'm eager to repeat it as soon as possible.

I grew up in a countryside so I've always worked in the house and garden, taking care of animals and plants. I like being active and making new friends, I can have a good time in a big city as well as in the countryside. I'm more introverted so I can seem quiet or shy but I rather like having adventures and hearing other people's stories.

My best traits are that I'm reliable and resilient.
My weakness is that I tend to overthink but I'm learning to be more spontaneous occasionally!

I spent about two months with Craig and his family and I couldn't have asked for a better host family. Craig is easy to talk to and he can teach you a lot about coffee, Japan and other things. He also genuinely wants workawayers to enjoy their time in Japan, so he gives great tips about local places to visit and see.

Menno and Jacqueline have created a memorable and welcoming place for volunteers and guests alike. As there were 10+ volunteers during my stay, the work was divided evenly, and it wasn't hard at all.
