Description
🌿 About Me
Hi, I’m Bryan! I’m an easy-going, hard-working traveler who loves learning new skills, connecting with people, and spending time outdoors. I’m currently focused on learning more about off-grid living, homesteading, and self-sufficiency — I find it really fulfilling to be part of projects that promote a sustainable and hands-on lifestyle.
🛠️ Skills & Experience
I have experience in gardening, landscaping, carpentry, light construction, and general home repair. I’ve also spent some time as a farm-hand, so I’m familiar with outdoor work, soil maintenance, and daily farm tasks. I’m comfortable with physical labor and enjoy working as part of a team.
Whether it’s maintaining trails, helping build or repair structures, assisting with food prep, or pitching in on communal chores, I’m happy to help wherever needed.
💬 Personality
People often describe me as positive, reliable, and enthusiastic. I like to keep things light-hearted and fun while still being responsible and professional about my commitments. I take pride in doing a job well and supporting the people around me.
🌎 Why Workaway
Workaway makes travel meaningful. I love the authentic cultural exchange it offers in the form of real homestays and shared daily life.
Through Workaway I’ve learned new skills and discovered different ways of living. I think of it as “enlightened travel.”
I’m grateful to hosts who open their homes, and I always aim to leave each place the same or better than I found it.

More details about your skills
I’m a hard worker, a quick learner, and very teachable. I genuinely love picking up new skills and taking on challenges.
I have a degree in physics and a strong love for both mathematics and nature — I enjoy understanding how things work, whether it’s in the garden or on the workbench.
🌿 Gardening & Agriculture
I have hands-on experience maintaining gardens and small agricultural plots. I’m comfortable with tasks like plant selection, gauging light and spacing, watering, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and recognizing and preventing pests. I enjoy getting my hands dirty and seeing things grow.
🔨 Construction & Maintenance
I have practical experience in carpentry, light construction, plumbing, electrical work, and painting (interior and exterior). I have spent several summers working for a general contractor helping to build and repair homes inside and out. I take pride in doing quality, precise work and enjoy using my hands to solve problems and create things that last.
💻 Technical & Digital Skills
Before shifting my focus toward more hands-on work, I spent over six years as a software engineer. I can code, build websites (from scratch or with platforms like WordPress), and manage all kinds of digital projects — from social media and online marketing to YouTube channels and app setup. These days, I try to limit my computer time, but I’m always happy to help with meaningful digital projects.
👦 Working With Children
I’m great with kids and have a wide range of experience. I've been a summer camp director, worked in a group home for foster children, I'm currently a licensed substitute teacher in the U.S. public schools, and I taught English in Africa for seven months (2024). I find children naturally drawn to me, and I always aim to engage their creativity, curiosity, and character development whether we’re playing, learning, or just spending time together.
🎧 Audio/Visual & Event Work
I also have experience in audio/visual production including lighting, sound, projectors, microphones, and video editing. I worked in a college basketball stadium managing power and A/V systems for two years.
There’s always more to say, but I hope this gives a well-rounded picture of who I am and what I can offer. My greatest skill is the ability to learn quickly, adapt, and solve problems — and I bring enthusiasm and ownership to every project. If you trust me with a task, I’ll give it my best and make sure we have fun and success along the way.

What else ...
I enjoy living simply and mindfully. I’ve spent time at several yoga ashrams in India, and the phrase “simple living and high thinking” really resonates with me. I love the balance of physical work, inner calm, and meaningful connection that comes with that lifestyle.
I have experience practicing and teaching yoga, and I maintain a daily meditation practice — usually sitting quietly for a few minutes in the morning and at night. Physical fitness is also a big part of my life; I enjoy running, biking, swimming, and pretty much anything that keeps me active and outdoors.
I’m kind, compassionate, and genuinely enjoy being around people. I see the world as one big human family, and I try to bring a spirit of warmth, humor, and understanding to every interaction. I love to laugh, I'm always positive, and I help create a peaceful, uplifting environment wherever I am.
