Hi my name is Samantha (Sammy for short)! I am a 22 year old from Seattle, Washington in the United States. I graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara in the spring of 2025 with a degree in Environmental Studies and in Ocean Science. Over the summers I work as a sea kayak guide on multi day excursions through a series of islands in Washington. I am new to the Work-away platform and am excited to join projects and help in whatever way I can. I love doing activities outdoors such as biking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, and observing wildlife. I have worked a variety of jobs and shared spaces. I have worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry, at dog shelters, and horse barns. I have over 10 years of experience with horses and horse-back riding. I'm hands-on, dependable, and happy to help wherever is needed, I enjoy cooking and creating a welcoming environment for others. I'm easygoing, curious, and always up for learning new things. My background in Environmental and Ocean Science gives me confidence in my knowledge of the outdoors and inspires me to keep learning everyday. I love gardening, construction projects, working with animals and wildlife, and am looking to be a part of new communities. Helping others with their projects and goals brings me joy.
