  • Description

    Hello hello:)

It's tricky writing this section. . . anyway, here's a bit about me:

I'm Ruby, a young human being from Wiyot land, Northern California who has been living in Berlin for the past four years as a student in sociology. I'm planning to move back to the us to work in journalism and will visit my adopted grandparents in CDMX in the fall, and travel around Mexico for a few months October through January, before I return home.

I'm searching for projects that have a political awareness, a desire to truly affect the world rather than only withdraw from it, and where I can contribute meaningfully. I received an apprenticeship to work with a journalist based in Mexico during my time there and publish some stories, so would be especially interested in ecological centres, cultural or political initiatives or unique projects that would be interested in potentially allowing me to write about you and bring some attention to the wonderful work you're doing! I also have experience in radio/audio editing, graphic design, shortform documentary and photography and would love to contribute through media projects alongside agricultural or construction work.

I am outgoing and a quick learner who enjoys connecting with people, is a committed worker and cares about treating people and the land with respect. I speak English, Spanish, and German and would love to primarily talk in Spanish during my travels:)

There's a bit of info about me:) if you have any questions, just ask!

  • More details about your skills

Formal work experience in housecleaning and dishwashing
Informal work removing invasive plants, organic gardening, cooking (I make great salads), helping paint/clean/repair old houses, canning/drying fruits

Most importantly, I want to learn - that's why I'm doing this - and I am not one to complain or be finnicky with using my hands.

Also I recently assisted in slaughtering a pig, and though I wouldn't want to be responsible for killing an animal, I feel comfortable with preparing meat and cleaning up if it comes down to it. I also feel quite comfortable with animals while they are alive; much more so, actually, than when not.
