  • Description

    Hi there,
I am a friendly, outgoing backpacker from Melbourne, Australia, excited to meet new people and experience new ways of life! At 19, I have already solo travelled around Vietnam and Thailand, and am currently looking to adventure through Europe with some of my friends.

I’ve heard only good things about Workaway from other travellers I met in Southeast Asia, and I’d love to finally get involved. I’m always keen to meet new people, learn about different ways of living, and throw myself into whatever experiences come my way.

My favourite things to do whilst travelling are; to try as many different foods and cuisines as possible, to meet and make friends with other travellers and like minded souls, and getting out to explore new cities, towns and countryside. I’m aware of how much there is to learn and see in the world, and I want to soak up as much of it as I can.

I take things in my stride, love a challenge, and am always happy to lend a hand wherever I can.

More details about my language interests
I am fluent in English and feel very confident in my ability to share and teach it to other people. I have had practice with teaching/aiding other travellers and friends to improve upon their use of grammar and pronunciation. Additionally, I come from an English speaking family and my father was an English teacher. I have learnt skills from him so I can help others learn English. I also very much want to learn a second language, with no preference for what that might be. I love a good challenge and am a fast learner with a musical ear.

  • More details about your skills

I graduated from year 12 (high school) in 2024, studying global politics, psychology, biology, chemistry, maths and English. My strongest subject was English and I am so excited to share my knowledge with others. I am very patient and a good teacher, and would love to do a language exchange with a host. English is my first and only language at the moment, but I know that will quickly change, especially through an organisation like Workaway.

As you already know, I've solo travelled to Vietnam and Thailand, and this trip helped me to develop vital skills; including great communication, organisation and my independence. I am a hard-working, fast paced learner and love a good challenge, especially if it involves group work. I work well in fast paced environments, with previous experience as a waitress, a checkout assistant at a supermarket, and a fast-food worker.

I have a strong interest in international relations, and would like to pursue the topic as a career in some form. However, I believe that it is important for me to travel and understand the world before I delve into its political world.

  • What else ...

I come from a very musical family and thus, I love music. I play the viola (similar to the violin) and I am a beginner on the guitar.

I also love to garden and have spent most of my life out in the backyard helping my mum. Getting my hands dirty doesn't bother me, especially when I can see the change I'm helping make. And I love animals!

I like to sing and play cards, and am very eager to learn new card games. I also am very good at tennis as I played it a lot growing up.
