Description
Hi! I'm Moriah. I'm from Michigan, US and I'm excited to do some traveling after finishing my PhD in Ecology. I will be traveling to New Zealand in February 2026. I've never done a workaway before, but I'm excited about the possibility and hope that a workaway experience will help me meet new people from New Zealand and potentially other travelers from around the world.
Update: I will be in Auckland Feb 4 & 5 and then doing a workaway from Feb 6-13 about 45 minutes south of Auckland. From there, I'd like to travel south to Wellington and then onwards to the South Island. I would love to find a travel buddy for some of this time - please reach out!

I have professional experience with ecological restoration and some knowledge of plants (I would love to learn the native fauna of NZ!). I enjoy cooking and baking, and I'm always looking to learn and gain inspiration from others in this area. I consider myself a very clean and tidy person, so I consider myself good at housework. I have some experience with gardening, and once spent a summer working on a farm. I love animals and have experience caring for a variety of animals (cats, dogs, turtles, etc.). I somewhat know my way around a toolbox and have assisted with DIY and building projects before. I really enjoy learning new things, and I’m happy to help wherever needed. I’m also a quick learner, and I like to work as part of a team.

I can be somewhat reserved at first, but I'm actually quite outgoing once I feel comfortable. I love card games and learning new games. Are there any card games special to New Zealand? I also love sports - playing and watching!
