Hi! My name is Molly, I am a 21 year old Canadian currently studying in the Netherlands and based in Italy. I have moved around my whole life and lived in seven countries across four continents. These global travels have helped me become more aware of the background that people may be coming from and how best to navigate the differences between people's upbringing. I believe both of these skills would be helpful within the workaway program, so that I can work with other workawayer’s and hosts alike. I want to be a workawayer because I enjoy learning about other cultures and learning life skills through hands-on activities and I believe that my experience growing up in several places will give me a unique perspective.
I am currently in my last year of university in the Netherlands studying for my bachelors. I really enjoy my studies in Anthropology and Archaeology as I am very interested in the history and culture of the places that I visit. I participated in an academic internship where I helped the local archaeological services in an excavation of a medieval house. While I have been enjoying university and I will most likely get a masters at some point I am finding it to not be an environment in which I am thriving right now so I have decided that I want to work in places with animals and practical skills. I am also interested in crafts such as crocheting, and I would love to learn whatever you are willing to teach me.
I am currently a member of my university's student association where we manage the clubs, are the point of contact for all inter-university events, and we plan the university's orientation. I am self-driven and have been a part of several volunteer groups where I have led group activities and mobilized other members of the community. I have been a junior counselor at several spring and summer camps for elementary students. I was a member of a group formed by my local public library to engage more teenagers in the library's community outreach and activities. As well I was in charge of my school's audio-visual student-led team and equipment, which was used for various performances and assemblies over the course of the year. I have always searched for opportunities which give me the chance to exchange knowledge and experiences with people from other cultures and to learn new stories, and this program shows me that it is achievable.Interests

More details about your skills
I have experience with workaway working as a housekeeper at a motel, I had such an amazing time learning about the culture of Quebec City and being able to meet people from all over the world. Being able to both practice my French skills and build both connections and make friends with a diverse group of people was incredible.
I have lots of experience working with kids, I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old. The children I have watched range from 1-12 years of age. I am certified in CPR on infants, children, and adults, and have Babysitting Certifications through the Canadian Red Cross. More recently I have been recertified by the Red Cross Netherlands. These trainings have been extremely helpful as they have reinforced my knowledge of how to prepare proper meals and for infants and small children how to engage in activities that can help improve language skills, appreciation for the outdoors, and fine motor skills. Overall I can not only supervise children, but I can also engage with children of a wide variety of ages and activities.
Additionally, I have also lifeguarded at my local waterpark for 2 summers. I am certified as a Lifeguard through the Canadian Red Cross. This has been extremely helpful and taught me a lot because I learned how to multitask within a work environment, particularly when one of the tasks is the safety of everyone at the park. It also helped me appreciate how important it is to be flexible and aware that plans can change in a client oriented environment. It also taught me how to manage various day-to-day engagements that can come up in a customer service job. This past summer I was working in a retail store where I gained experience running a cash register.
I also have some experience with vocational trades and I have learned the basics of welding, electrical circuitry, and building the frame of simple vehicles. In addition my Dad and I have been attempting to assemble a motorcycle after receiving the deconstructed pieces from a friend. I am always happy to learn more!Age
