  • Description

Hi, I’m Michelle, a 30-year-old from Denmark currently travelling around Australia on a Working Holiday visa.

For the past 12 years, I’ve worked in the film industry as a photographer, film editor, and creative professional. I loved the creative world, but after many years in a fast-paced city life, I felt a strong need for a lifestyle change. I wanted to slow down, reconnect with nature, and spend my time doing work that feels more meaningful and grounded. That’s what brought me to Australia for a year of travel, work, and new experiences.

I’ve been in Australia since November, travelling, hiking, and working on farms, and I’m now looking for a place where I can settle for a period and become part of everyday life on a farm, sanctuary, or meaningful community project.

I absolutely love being outdoors and active. Hiking is one of my biggest passions, and I’m happiest when surrounded by nature, animals, and open space. I enjoy physical work and I’m not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Whether it’s farm work, caring for animals, helping with household tasks, building projects, gardening, or general maintenance, I’m always happy to help and learn something new.

I’m a calm, reliable, and hardworking person who adapts quickly to new environments. I genuinely enjoy learning new skills and taking on different kinds of tasks. Previous hosts and employers often describe me as easy-going, warm, and very committed.

Alongside my professional background, I also have a strong history of volunteering. From the age of 15 to 20, I spent three months every year in Tanzania doing volunteer work, including helping build schools, supporting women’s groups, and assisting in local communities near the Serengeti and Maasai areas. Volunteering has always been a natural part of my life, and it’s something I deeply value.

Socially, I’m very outgoing and love connecting with people. I enjoy being part of a team and sharing daily life with others. At the same time, I’m calm and grounded, and in my free time I love reading books, playing board games, and spending time in nature.

As a bonus, I also bring strong creative skills in photography, video editing, content creation, and marketing. If hosts ever need help with social media, content, storytelling, or promoting their business/project, I would love to contribute there as well.

I’m looking for a meaningful experience where I can contribute fully, learn, and be part of something real.

  • More details about your skills

I’m a very hands-on person with a broad mix of practical, creative, and people-focused skills.

I have previous volunteer experience from Tanzania, where I helped build schools, supported community projects, and worked with children. Through this, I gained experience with teamwork, practical building tasks, and adapting quickly to new environments and challenges.

I also have experience with childcare and have helped look after children both within my own family and through volunteer work. I’m calm, responsible, and naturally caring, which makes me comfortable in roles involving children and families.

On the practical side, I have renovated much of my own apartment myself, so I’m confident with painting, basic DIY tasks, assembling furniture, organising spaces, and general hands-on work. I also enjoy gardening, outdoor work, and general maintenance tasks around the house or farm.

I’m physically active, enjoy working outdoors, and I’m happy helping with gardening, weeding, planting, animal care, cleaning, lifting, painting, and other daily tasks that need doing.

Professionally, I have spent the last 12 years working in the film industry as a photographer, film editor, and creative, so I also bring strong skills in photography, content creation, social media, and marketing if hosts need help promoting their business or project.

Most importantly, I’m extremely open to learning. If there is something I haven’t done before, I’m always excited to learn quickly and give it my full effort. I’m adaptable, reliable, and genuinely enjoy picking up new skills.

  • What else ...

In my free time, I love playing computer games and board games, and I really enjoy the social side of sharing a game with others. I also love going for walks, spending time outdoors, and being in nature whenever possible.

I’m an avid reader and enjoy relaxing with a good book. Creativity is also a big part of who I am — I love creating, telling stories, and finding meaningful ways to express ideas, whether that’s through writing, photography, film, or simply sharing experiences with others.

Overall, I’m someone who enjoys both active outdoor living and cosy, creative downtime.

I have also made a lot of documentary films and travelled extensively, which has made me deeply curious about how different people live and the many cultures around the world. I genuinely love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and learning about different ways of life, traditions, and perspectives.

This curiosity and openness to other cultures is a big reason why I enjoy experiences like Workaway so much it gives me the chance to connect with people in a more meaningful and authentic way.
