Description
About Me
Hi, my name is Michal, but people can also call me Misha.
I am from the Czech Republic and I would describe myself as a calm, kind, easy-going and curious person. I am naturally more introverted, so I may need a little time to feel fully comfortable in a new place or with new people. But once I feel at ease, I enjoy good conversations, sharing stories and getting to know people in a genuine way.
I like simple and meaningful things: nature, animals, road trips, photography, music, poetry, hiking, peaceful places and spontaneous little adventures. I enjoy discovering new places slowly, not only as a tourist, but also through everyday life, local people, small tasks, work and moments that feel real.
I am respectful, patient, responsible and willing to learn. When something needs to be done, I like to understand it properly and do it well. I may ask questions at first, but I learn quickly and I appreciate kind and clear communication.
Things I Enjoy
I love spending time in nature, hiking, travelling, taking photos and being around animals. Dogs are especially close to my heart — I honestly think dogs make life better in a very simple, honest and beautiful way.
I would be very happy to help with dogs or animals in general. I enjoy walking dogs, taking care of them, spending time with them and learning more about working with animals. I do not have professional animal-care experience, but I am gentle, patient, careful and very willing to learn.
I also enjoy helping people, especially in a calm and respectful way. I think I could enjoy helping older people, keeping them company, listening, helping with simple daily tasks, or just being a kind presence around the house. I value calmness, patience and human connection.
I am interested in gardening, farm work and outdoor tasks as well. I would like to learn more about growing food, taking care of plants, working with soil, helping around farms, maintaining outdoor spaces and doing practical hands-on work. I may not know everything yet, but I am curious, reliable and happy to learn step by step.
I also enjoy creative things such as photography, poetry, literature and music. I like capturing landscapes, animals, people, travel moments and small details that have a certain feeling. Writing and photography help me notice things more deeply and express thoughts that are not always easy to say directly.
Some things I enjoy are:
* nature, forests, mountains and peaceful places
* hiking and long walks
* road trips and travelling
* dogs and animals
* photography
* poetry, literature and music
* gardening and learning about plants
* farms, outdoor work and practical tasks
* helping people in a calm and respectful way
* spontaneous trips and discovering new places
* learning new skills
* meaningful work and simple honest living
Languages
My native language is Czech, and I speak English as well.
My English is good, especially when reading, writing and understanding. In spoken English, I sometimes need a short moment to warm up, mainly because of my introverted nature, but once I feel comfortable, I can communicate naturally and enjoy conversations.
I would also like to improve my English while travelling, meeting people and living in an English-speaking environment.
My Canada Journey
I am currently in Toronto, and one of my personal goals while I am in Canada is to travel by car from Toronto towards Vancouver.
I do not have a strict schedule. I would like to explore Canada slowly, province by province, and experience the country through nature, culture, local life and people I meet along the way.
I am interested in doing Workaway during the journey. I am open to both shorter and longer stays, depending on the place, the project, the people and how well it feels for both sides. I would be happy to help with animals, dogs, farms, gardening, outdoor work, maintenance, small communities, creative projects, nature-related work, or helping older people and families in everyday life.
For me, the journey is not only about reaching Vancouver. It is about the road itself — discovering places, helping where I can, meeting kind people, spending time in nature and collecting stories along the way.
Current Workaway Experience
At the moment, I am in Toronto with my friend, who is also doing Workaway here. We are helping elderly people in a quiet suburban area outside the city.
This is my first Workaway-style experience. It is not directly through the Workaway platform, but through my friend, so it feels like a natural and friendly way to start. We help with everyday tasks around the house and property, such as gardening, mowing the lawn, washing dishes, watering flowers, cleaning, organizing and fixing simple basic things when needed.
I enjoy this kind of work because it feels real and useful. It is not complicated, but it matters. I like helping in everyday life, learning how things are done, and being part of a calm household or small community for a while.
Travel & Future Plans
Travelling is a big part of what I would like to do in life. I enjoy the feeling of being on the road, discovering new places and experiencing landscapes, cultures and people in a more personal way.
In November 2025, I went on a ten-day road trip with my father through the Baltic countries, Finland, Sweden and Norway. We slept in different places along the way, explored the north, drove through beautiful landscapes and even went hiking at night to see the northern lights. It was one of those trips that felt simple, cold, beautiful and unforgettable. We also travelled towards the far north, including the Nordkapp area, which made the journey feel even more special.
After Canada, I am also planning a three-week road trip to Patagonia with two close friends. The idea is to rent a car and travel from Santiago down towards southern Patagonia in December 2027. One year later, we would also like to travel together to Africa, especially Namibia, although this plan is still in a very early stage.
These trips say a lot about what I enjoy: open landscapes, nature, road trips, adventure, good people, simple moments and meaningful experiences rather than luxury travel.
Practical Background
Back home, I work as a land surveyor in Prague, and I also have some experience working abroad as a land surveyor in Sweden.
My work has taught me responsibility, patience, precision, practical problem-solving and the ability to learn technical things. I am used to both fieldwork and computer work, and I have experience with measurements, maps, technical documentation, CAD software and 3D data.
For Workaway, I do not want to present myself mainly through my job, but I think this background shows that I am reliable, careful, practical and able to learn new tasks step by step.
If you would like to know more about me, my background, my travel plans or anything else, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to talk, answer any questions and see if we could be a good fit for each other. -

More details about your skills
I am a practical, careful and patient person, and I am happy to help with many different kinds of tasks.
I enjoy hands-on work and I am interested in learning more about gardening, farm work, animal care, outdoor maintenance and simple everyday tasks around the house or property. I am not afraid to learn something new, ask questions and improve step by step.
I would be especially happy to help with dogs or animals in general — walking them, feeding them, spending time with them, helping with basic care, cleaning or learning more about animal-related work.
I can also help with gardening, planting, watering, weeding, carrying things, cleaning, organizing, simple maintenance, painting, preparing firewood, helping outdoors, or any practical work where patience and reliability are useful.
I enjoy photography and writing, so I can also help with taking photos, documenting a place or project, writing simple text, or helping with basic online content if needed.
Back home, I work in a technical field, so I am used to being responsible, precise, practical and focused. But for Workaway, I am mostly looking forward to helping with real everyday work, learning new skills, spending time outside, and being useful in a simple and meaningful way. -
