  • Description

What motivates me most is connection to people, ideas, places, and ways of living that feel intentional and humane. I’m happiest when I’m learning something new, whether that’s a skill, a language, a story, or a way of seeing the world I hadn’t considered before. I’m deeply curious about how people build meaningful lives across cultures, especially when resources are limited but creativity and care are abundant.

I have a strong commitment to advocacy and social justice, not as a slogan, but as a daily practice of listening, humility, and showing up with care. I believe dignity, kindness, and mutual respect are foundational to any healthy community. I’m drawn to environments where people value cooperation over competition and where work, whether physical, creative, or relational, is done with purpose.

I find joy in simple, grounding things like shared meals, honest conversation, being outdoors, contributing to a collective project, and ending the day tired in a good way. I bring thoughtfulness, reliability, and genuine enthusiasm into the spaces I’m part of. For me, Workaway isn’t just about travel. It’s about exchanging energy, stories, and labor in a way that leaves everyone a little more connected than before :)

At a more advanced level, I can help with essay writing, structure, argument development, and close reading, including college-level analytical writing and comparative literature. • More details about your skills

I bring a mix of practical, creative, and academic skills, along with a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn. I have beginner to intermediate woodworking experience and have built my own furniture, including chairs and a couch. I’m comfortable using basic tools, working carefully with my hands, and figuring things out as I go.

Academically, I hold an English degree and have spent years studying writing, reading, and communication. I also studied law briefly in Oxford, UK, which sharpened my ability to think clearly, ask good questions, and communicate thoughtfully. I’m comfortable with writing, editing, tutoring, and explaining ideas in a patient, accessible way.

I also have a strong comfort level with technology. In my professional life, I’ve worked on building automation tools and machine learning systems at a large organizational scale. I enjoy solving problems, simplifying complex processes, and making systems run more smoothly. While this background is more digital than hands-on, it’s given me patience, adaptability, and a practical approach to troubleshooting that carries over into everyday work.

I enjoy cooking and can confidently prepare simple, nourishing meals, especially when cooking for others or working with limited ingredients. I’m organized, dependable, and respectful of shared spaces. I work well both independently and as part of a team, and I value contributing to a healthy, cooperative environment.

Above all, I bring curiosity, reliability, and a genuine desire to be useful. I’m happy to learn new skills, take guidance, and support whatever projects or rhythms are already in place.

  • What else ...

At a deeper level, I’m motivated by a belief that we are all connected and that meaningful work, no matter how small, is a way of taking care of one another. I care deeply about contributing to projects that serve people, communities, and the broader human good. I try to approach life with integrity, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility, especially in shared or unfamiliar environments.

I’m comfortable in challenging or uncertain settings and tend to stay calm, practical, and supportive when things are difficult. I take pride in being dependable and in offering my full attention and effort to whatever task I’m given, whether that’s physical work, problem-solving, or simply being present and helpful. I value clear communication, mutual respect, and doing things thoughtfully rather than hurriedly.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, writing, long conversations, board and card games (Settlers of Catan!), spending time outdoors, and learning from the people around me. I’m someone who listens well and values companionship as much as productivity. For me, being a good Workawayer means contributing with diligence and care, and leaving a place better, warmer, and more connected than I found it.
