Hi everyone! My name is Martina, I’m 27 years old and I come from Italy. I arrived in Australia in November and since then I’ve been working as an au pair with a wonderful Australian family in Torquay, Victoria.

Now I feel it’s time for a new chapter, I’d love to start exploring more of this beautiful and vast country that is Australia.

I’m a cheerful, outgoing person who enjoys stepping out of my comfort zone and isn’t afraid of hard work. I’m very active and sporty, and, as a true Italian, I absolutely love cooking and sharing good food with others.

I believe Workaway is a great opportunity to travel in a sustainable way, connect with local people, and experience different cultures while contributing and learning at the same time.

More details about my language interests
I studied at a language-focused high school, which sparked my strong interest in languages, not only in literature, but especially as a way to connect with people and better understand different cultures. During my school years, I took part in several exchange programs, especially in Framce, and later at university I joined the Erasmus+ project, spending six months in Greece. This experience helped me significantly improve my English fluency and confidence in an international environment. Alongside my studies, I worked as a tutor, mainly helping students with foreign languages. More recently, during my time in Australia, I’ve also given a few Italian lessons, which I really enjoyed.

In terms of my skills, I have solid experience in managing a household. I’m confident with cleaning, cooking, and keeping spaces organised and tidy, I also enjoy gardening.

In addition, I have a background in babysitting thanks to my time as an au pair, so I’m comfortable taking care of children and creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for them. I'm also confident in teaching italian if it's something you are intersting about.

That said, I’m always eager to learn and challenge myself. I’m open-minded and ready to develop new skills, adapt to different situations, and help wherever I’m needed.

I’m very passionate about sports and outdoor activities, and I love staying active and trying new things. I mainly play volleyball and enjoy rock climbing, but I’m always open to discovering new sports and challenges.

I have a strong connection with the ocean: I’m a certified scuba diver and I also enjoy surfing and kitesurfing whenever I have the chance. Being in nature, especially by the sea, is something that really makes me feel energised and happy.

In my free time, I enjoy socialising and creating connections with others. I love playing board games and I’m always up for a good card game or just have a chat in front of a coffe, I think they’re a great way to bring people together and share fun moments.

I also enjoy simple things like going for walks or running (something i started to do since I come to Australia), exploring new places, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. I’m an easygoing and positive person, and I like being part of a friendly and collaborative environment.

I stayed with Soo for 12 days, and overall it was a very positive experience. As described in the profile, my tasks included cleaning, sorting and organizing some belongings, and helping with a bit of cooking.
