Description
Oi, ciao, hello!
My name’s Marshall and I’m looking to spend my gap year traveling around, learning about culture and hopefully making a positive change in the world or at least in someones life. I spent a year abroad in Vitoria, ES in Brasil when I was 15 and I fell instantly in love with Brazilian culture and obviously the food (would kill for a pão de qeijo right now) and ever since, I’ve had the need to go back and explore deeper into the culture and lifestyle that I fell in love with 3 years ago. After my time in Brazil, I moved to Italy where I study at the United World College of the Adriatic, an international school aimed at promoting environmentalism, social justice, education and all the other things I’m passionate about. A little more about me, I’m a musician through and through. I play the keys mainly, but I dabble with other instruments as well. Last time I was in Brazil, I wasn’t able to delve into the Brazilian music scene as much as I would have hoped. I love samba and bossa nova, but it seemed like all I heard from my friends in Vitoria was “Deu Onda” and “Malandramente.” Don’t get me wrong, I loved listening to funk in the sun with the smell of churrasco in the air, but I’ve always wanted to go back and check out all that Brazil has to offer musically. I’m a very colorful person, as in I wear a lot of rainbow shirts. I give a lot of hugs. I smile a lot, and I’m never afraid to get my hands dirty and put in some hard work. I really hope that through this experience I get to meet some interesting people and make some great memories, but I guess that’s a given :)Interests

I would definitely describe myself as an extrovert, and I’m really comfortable working with people and costomers. I absolutely love meeting new people and hearing their stories and forging relationships, so that tends to make me a good team worker and leader when those situations arise.I don’t have any proffessional experience in construction or anything like that, but I grew up working around the house doing various manual labour and gardening projects. I’m a fast learner and eager to expand my skills in any area.

I take jinx very seriously. If we say the same word at the same time and you jinx me, I won’t speak until you say my name. I’ve spent months in a jinxed silence many times, and I’m not afraid to do it again!!

Marshall came to us by foot, in the midst of the lock-down, walking the old spiritual paths that crisscross Tuscany. Bold, adventurous, unafraid of hard work, I cannot say enough good things about Marshall. He brought a fantastic energy to our group - lively, personable, engaging, and always eager to help.
