My next destination:
New Zealand - from Jan 2025 until Dec 2025 View allDescription
I am a friendly 23-year-old Canadian currently exploring New Zealand on a 12-month working holiday visa. I have a BSc in oceanography and a deep passion for nature, animals, and the ocean. In my spare time, I love hiking, running, reading, and acrylic painting. I'm happiest when staying active and thrive in hands-on working environments, especially those that allow me to be outdoors or involved in something creative.
I'm always eager to learn new skills, meet great people, and contribute wherever I can. Looking forward to new experiences and opportunities on this journey!Interests

More details about your skills
Before coming to New Zealand I worked as an Aquatic Science Technician for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada which gave me plenty of field and lab experience. After participating in an 18-day research survey on a vessel in the North Atlantic, I realized my passion for work where I can be active and outdoors.
Before becoming an oceanographer, I thought my dream job was to be a veterinarian, so I participated in a co-op program where I worked as a vet assistant in a clinic for 5 months. I realized that I was too sensitive for that line of work, but got loads of animal care and handling experience.
In addition to my scientific background, I have experience working with and teaching children. I was a skating instructor for 2 years in high school and also gave my next-door neighbour flute lessons and tutored her in math.
I also worked as a hotel housekeeper for a summer during COVID, so I am well-versed in maintaining clean and organized spaces.
Having attended French immersion school throughout elementary and high school in Canada, I am proficient in French and relatively comfortable speaking the language, though I am a bit rusty due to lack of recent practice.Age
