Description
As a complex yet simple person, I am driven by a passion and a desire to help people and make a difference in their lives. I have always been outgoing and unafraid to speak my truth and stand up for what I believe while respecting everyone's right to choose for themselves. I grew up in Egypt on my family farm, graduated from Cairo University, and taught in Alexandria before immigrating to the United States. These experiences combined with traveling in Europe, Asia, the United States and Canda helped me develop new perspectives about cultures and people. I have taught English as a Second Language and Arabic to children and adults in both Egypt and the United States. Through my teaching experiences, I have developed leadership skills, learned to work with colleagues, parents, and the community, and improved my teaching abilities. Currently, I am working on my Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, and later this year I will start working on my Ph.D. I have a great passion for learning, growing, and making a difference in people's life. My goal is to be a professor and teach at a university. I am a lifelong learner who focuses on things that hold value such as loving others and serving them regardless of their color, race, ethnicity, or background
Growing up in Egypt and immigrating to the United States has been difficult. However, I have learned from these challenges to adapt, adjust, and accept, to be patient, nonjudgmental, unbiased, and not make assumptions. I believe that acceptance, kindness, and respect can heal brokenness and promote peace. Also, I learned through immigrating to the United States there is value for immigrants and their new country in acculturation and assimilation. Acculturation has taught me I can maintain and share my Egyptian identity and customs in the United States. Assimilation means I may lose my native language and customs in my new homeland but through this process, I bring change to the lives of people around me.
I love to volunteer and make people happy. My biggest joy in life is when I can make people happy or smile. Volunteer experiences include: assisting to clean up after Hurricane Sandy, walking dogs, babysitting, caring for senior citizens, teaching, and cleaning and organizing houses.
Hobbies: traveling, photography, music, hiking, biking, and meeting new people. I love animals especially dogs. -
