Description
Hello! Coming from Maine, life feels best when spent outdoors hiking, swimming, or finding a beautiful view to sit with a book. Staying active and learning new things brings me a lot of joy, and picking up new skills along the way is always part of the adventure.
We love to spend extra time in the kitchen cooking, baking, and finding any excuse to celebrate the little moments. Bringing people together over food and shared experiences is our favorite way to connect.
For us, travel is about connection, learning from different cultures, and sharing everyday life with people from around the world. The hope is to exchange energy, kindness, and hard work for meaningful experiences, new friendships, and a deeper understanding of each place visited. Working toward something meaningful with others is especially rewarding, and the friendship that evolves along the way is that much more special.
If you’re looking for someone enthusiastic, hard working, and ready to pitch in with a smile, we would love to experience life in your community and be part of your project. We are new to Workaway and cannot wait to get started!

More details about your skills
Kaleigh - I am currently taking a break from my career as a Mechanical Engineer. From that, I have a strong work ethic and technical background. At the workplace I was the Morale Coordinator- always bringing people together and finding time for fun amongst a busy schedule.
Prior to my professional career, I was a server at a local diner. I am very confident in the hospitality realm and I understand how to make people feel happy and comfortable.
In my college years, I sought out every opportunity to help students learn. I was a Teaching Assistant for chemistry and materials science, I was a tutor for many math and science subjects, and I was the president of a club where I coordinated STEM outreach events for younger students aged 8-18.
Additionally, I was a paid social media influencer for my university (before it became so popular!) My job was to post on various platforms to encourage highschool seniors to choose my school.
Finally, I am a hard worker who is eager to learn new skills and execute them to the best of my ability, and with a positive attitude :)
Andrew- I am also taking a break from my professional career as a bridge inspection engineer. I was fortunate to find a career where I could be out in the field and working with my hands! From that, I am skilled in basic mechanical jobs and professional writing.
While Kaleigh is the baker, I am the cook. I love cooking and sharing with others.
I was previously a volunteer at my community's summer camp and had a blast chasing around the kids.
Also, I am comfortable taking care of others in a hospitality setting. I was formerly a hospital transport assistant where I was responsible for keeping the patient comfortable as I transported them to various locations.
In summary, I am a competent and self-driven individual who is ready to get the job done and have a good time along the way!

What else ...
We love to play cards and learn new card games! We just learned about the Russian game "Durak" from a friend at a ski hut. Andrew and I can often be found playing Cribbage - a New England favorite.
We are fortunate to share our love for the outdoors. We love to hike, swim, raft, and ski together. We just completed the Presidential Traverse in New Hampshire, our longest day-hike to date. The best outdoor adventures end with a cold plunge :)
