Description
Hi there!
We are Elli and Julius, a German couple who started a long-term journey around the world in January 2026. For this adventure, we gave up our apartment in Düsseldorf, Germany, where we lived for the past seven years during our studies. Elli studied Biology / Environmental Sciences, and Julius studied Medical Physics / Data Science. Before settling down, we decided to take the time to explore the world more deeply.
We already have experience with long-term travel and Workaway: in 2017/2018 we spent nine months traveling across New Zealand, combining traveling with volunteering and cultural exchange.
We both love animals (especially cats) and enjoy discovering new places. Even though Elli is the Italian one, Julius is the passionate cook in our relationship. Together, we enjoy creative DIY projects, amateur photography, cozy coffee afternoons, and spending time outdoors.
For our next Workaway experiences, we are mainly looking for meaningful cultural exchange while contributing to projects we genuinely care about. We are happy to help with everyday tasks such as household chores, gardening, and animal care, but also with more specific projects. Elli worked for 2.5 years in a sustainability consultancy, where she was responsible for managing a project’s website and social media presence, including content creation and basic design work. Being environmental enthusiasts, we would love to contribute to projects that make a lasting impact on our planet.
We are open-minded, reliable, and adaptable, and we always try to integrate ourselves respectfully into our host’s daily life.
If you think we could be a good fit, we would be very happy to hear from you!
Looking forward to getting to know you 😊

More details about your skills
***Julius
Computers and technology are my passion, and I am happy to help with any IT-related tasks, troubleshooting, or general technical support. I also enjoy working with numbers and can assist with mathematical or analytical tasks if needed. I am a calm, patient person and don’t mind repetitive or time-consuming work. In addition, I am always happy to help with gardening or practical outdoor tasks.
***Elli
I would describe myself as a creative person with a strong interest in handicrafts. I enjoy a wide range of creative activities, including crocheting, sewing, and pottery. Photography is another passion of mine, even though I would still call myself an amateur. During my studies, I gained my first professional experience working for a sustainability consultancy. There, I was able to combine creativity with practical work by supporting the company’s online presence, including social media and website management, as well as assisting with general public relations tasks.
***Together
During our time in New Zealand, we worked in a variety of jobs that helped us become flexible and adaptable to new tasks. These included working at a wine factory, supporting wedding planners, and assisting professional gardening companies. We enjoy learning new skills and don’t mind getting our hands dirty while working outdoors.
Tasks we have done during previous Workaway stays include:
- General household support
- Painting houses and decks
- Varnishing and staining wooden window frames and fences
- Gardening tasks (weeding, planting, mowing lawns, hedge cutting, wood chopping)
- Small building and DIY projects
Age
26 & 27

What else ...
we are easy-going people, interested in exploring the world and trying to make our part. We are always up for good coversations, coziness and hot drinks!

It was a pleasure to have you around. You tackled jobs meticulously and stuck at any task no matter how tedious.
Jake and I are missing you already.
Have a great stay and see you before you go home next year
Also we had a lot of different jobs that were not very hard like weeding, planting, cleaning, painting etc.
And not to forget: Jake (the dog) will love you (especially if you are a young… read more
