  • Description

Hi, I am Julie, an osteopath and a dedicated mother. I come from the province of Quebec, the french speaking part of Canada. I have been working in collective gardens and on CSA farms occasionally, so my experience can be useful. I am a vegetarian. I'm an early worker, usually waking up before the other and taking that moment to see the garden waking up when dew still there... I like to sing songs (knows square dancing !), I am a team worker and love to listen to people stories, I'm eager to learn better way of doing things, learn all the tricks and feel like I have got good work done at the end of the day ! I love rock climbing, canoeing on quiet lakes, board games...

The family used Workaway in 2019 with my two big kids (11 and 16), and see the Maritimes for the first time : it was amazing ! The level of English of the kids was finally high enough to make sure everyone would be able to talk easily with those they meet and work with. Then in 2023, I traveled again with my non-binary teen (15) to visit France for 3 weeks, passing from music festivals to workaways. I really really appreciate how this plateform allows me to meet real people and discover magical places. I also have a host experience with my country house, which make it easier to understand the expectations but also to communicate everything that needs to have a nice moment together. My kids are now too big to follow me... But it gave them a nice taste for traveling : which they do now on their own !!!

I do not have a specific trip planned at the moment, but I often go to see my lover who lives away in Western Massachusetts, close to Northampton. And when I do, I sometime would like to see some projets around there !

-toilet the golden retreiver, but especially the colleys
-give extra-milk to the babies, when the mother was exhausted

Helped around bigger scale supported agriculture farms :

-Plant the seedlings in the field, kill the bugs, clean up the weeds, trim and attach the tomatoes, organise the growing of the climbing beans, harvest everything for the baskets (and wash, and weight, and organise), start and harvest the sprouts, plant the garlic, seed save !!!

Have been a collective garden coodonnator for 7 years, and after that networked with 4 more families (with yong kids around, always involed) to grow our food on the country side for 3 years, and then have a gaden of my own for 3 years :
-Organised seed fair event in Montreal
-Gave beginner-class to all gardeners about crop rotation, companion planting, permaculture in cold climate, and helped then in the garden design
-Made sure everything was done proprely to have food on the tables for people to bring back home !
