Description

I am a teacher living most recently in Milano, Italy. I'm English originally, having grown up in Devon, south west England. Later this summer, I'm going to move back to England for further teacher training, where I'm going to teach German to school kids! My German has had very little practice recently, so I'm looking for the right workaway project to give me good exposure to the language :)

In Italy, I've been teaching science to middle school kids (11-14 years old) in English at an international school, where I planned experiments in all 3 scientific disciplines. I'm also qualified to teach English as a foreign language and work occasionally as an English teacher. For the past 8 years, I have taught kids and I feel it's my purpose, or "ikigai" as the Japanese call it, to connect with, manage, and hopefully inspire the younger generation.

I love the outdoors and spend my time hiking in mountains or forests, rock climbing, and cycling whenever possible. I'm very sporty in general and passionate about football. When at home I love to play chess and enjoy music.

My workaway objective is to find experiences where I can connect with good people and share my own good spirit. I can contribute my language skills, as a native English speaker, as well as the German and Italian I have learnt. I can offer my physical strength and fitness, as well as the willingness to learn and try (almost) anything.

I hope to find the possibility to practise German in an active, meaningful environment, while engaging in a common purpose, in the company of native speakers. The opportunity to enjoy nature at the same time would be a major positive.
