Hello! I'm Hui-Ning, and you can call me Jessie :D

I'm from Taiwan and moved to the UK from September 2024 for my Master‘s degree. I recently decided to pause and listen to my heart to explore what truly makes me happy. Therefore, I'd like to experience different kinds of lifestyle and also help and contribute to the world through Workaway!

I used to live in The Netherlands for 1 year as an exchange student. During that time, I grabbed the chance to travel around Europe and also meet local people through Couchsurfing! I really enjoy this immersive way of travelling, as it allows me to learn and experience local culture beyond surface level, expanding my horizons and reflecting on my own culture and perspectives. (I really advocate for this idea that I created an authentic travel app as my Master's project!)

I'm an ambivert that I enjoy both active outdoor activities as well as indoor peacefulness. I found myself thrive in nature settings. I love walking in parks and hiking a lot, and I'm training myself to reach the peak of Mt. Jade (highest mountain in Taiwan, 3952m) one day! Other sports I enjoy: aerial yoga, weight training, badminton (still practising: ice skating, skateborading, tennis/padel). I also enjoy some quiet self time reading, journaling, listening to music and podcast. I'm very interested in wellness and self-care. Currently practising mindfulness and morning meditation routine!

I have so many interests and always like to try new stuff. I'm looking forward to learning more about different culture and exchanging stories with you!

Despite growing up in a city, I always thrive on being surrounded by the nature. I really want to experience living in a farm and the DIY lifestyle! I'm keen on learning new skills in growing plants or feeding animals, as well as painting and carpentry.

I really love animals and used to volunteer in a stray dogs centre.

[Cooking & Baking]
I'd love to cook some Taiwanese or Asian dishes and share our food culture. I'm also proud of my homemade scones and matcha/hojicha desserts :D

[Fitness]
I'm happy to share some basic free weight training and yoga techniques and would definitely love to practice together!

[Arts]
I really enjoy creative work. I used to draw a lot of manga, and I can also wirte some Chinese caligraphy. I like to explore arts in different formats in a way to express ourselves!

[Childcare]
I facilitated several summer camps before and I enjoy spending time with children.

[Languages]
I tutored English for both kids and adults, and I can definitely offer help with Mandarin, especially Traditional Chinese!

[Marketing & Hospitality]
I previously worked in Marketing roles and have experiences working in a hostel to welcome guests from around the world and host some cultural events!

What else ...

I'm also a movie lover that I record all movies I watched on Letterboxd. Always very exciting to talk about movies, especially with like-minded people! My current favourite movie is Ad Astra, and I'm also a big fan of Christopher Nolan and Ryan Gosling (really love his recent film Project Hail Mary) :D
