Description
I’m an electrical/field engineer from Hungary currently on a gap year, free of corporate work responsibilites. I have done a fair share of travelling already, but mainly related to work.
In this year I decided to travel more soulfully, where I have more time to enjoy the local atmosphere, connect to nature, people, and most of all, relax my nervous system. In the last few years I discovered spirituality and yoga, wich have also become part of my life.
I started my journey in Panama in February, enjoying workaways, and also some independent travelling, making my way slowly through the countries. I'm also learning Spanish on my own - this is a bigger undertaking than I thought, but I'm getting there! Currently I'm able to get along and have basic conversations.
I realized that I enjoy workaways the most, if I can contribute with my unique skills, and feel that I'm making a difference. I prefer working with people (as in reception work at hostels), or being able to build or fix something, or create art. My big superpower is undoubtedly the fact that I'm really handy, I can fix anything if I have the tools for it, and I also have a decent experience in anything construction related.
My other project on this trip is, that in Costa Rica I purchased a motorbike, the legendary Yamaha XT250, and I hope it's gonna remain my faithful companion for the rest of my journey. My goal is to slowly make it to the Mexican border, or maybe beyond!
Last but not least, while being in Central America, I fell in love with surfing. I still consider myself a beginner, but I feel like this soprt is going to stick with me for the rest of my life.
I’m calm, reflective, and independent. I enjoy having a daily rhythm (helping a few hours, then time to explore, hike, read, or reflect). I’m very comfortable being on my own, but I also enjoy shared meals and honest deep conversations.
I’m not really looking for party environments — I’m more interested in simple living, sports, nature, and cultural exchange. -

More details about your skills
My professional background is technical (engineering, troubleshooting, practical problem-solving), but I enjoy hands-on work and DIY just as much.
I definitely can help with:
- General maintenance and repairs, around the house, machines, cars, etc
- Construction, electrical work, plumbing, bit of carpentry, organizing, fixing things.
- Gardening, farming tasks, caring for animals. I like to get my hands dirty!
- Helping in hostels or eco-lodges
- IT / tech help if needed
Since I have always worked in the tech field so far, if possible, I'd also like to try to do something more people-centered, or something related to hospitality, like being at the reception, guiding, hosting, assisting tours, etc. -
