Description

Hello! I am Gideon, originally from Nashville, TN. I am living in remote Alaska right now, but over the past four years I have lived in several parts of TN, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, California, and here in Alaska. I am trying to learn different forms of agriculture and farming as well as learn many other things along the way. Depending where I live my day to day looks quite different but I enjoy the nature most of all as well as working with others and making new friends. Currently I am in the Matanuska glacier working as a cook, in the past I have been a meat and seafood worker, general laborer (for a contractor), farm hand, and as a temp worker doing many different things typically with the forklift. I am looking to continue traveling but also build skills, currently I want to learn from people who have lodges, or small communities focused on group sustainability.

I have worked in service for a couple of years (Meat and Seafood Assistant Manager). I have worked in varied construction positions in the past. I have worked in a tile factory, as a contractors apprentice, and have worked on several farms. I have built several decks, as well as build flagstone pathways and painting exterior structures is something else I enjoy. I am willing to learn new skills as well and can't wait to help! I will help with any task and love using my hands.

I love to kayak and be outdoors. I love farming and working, helping others, and spending time reading and writing. Recently I have been situated off the grid in Linden, TN, but I am wanting to explore new activities, and something that will help someone. Hiking and traveling are another thing I love and am eager to get to do more.
