  • Description

    Hi everyone! :)

I've been a language teacher for over ten years now and I am very passionate about my job, but I love learning new things as well, so I am going to take a break and travel to discover the other end of the globe.
I would call myself a cautious adventurer; I love exploring new places, learning about different cultures and testing my own limits, but with reason.
The past year has been emotionally trying and also draining, which is why I am looking forward to meeting new people and making new experiences and also to set my mind and heart at ease to be able to go back and improve myself and my teaching.
My friends say that I am kind and supportive but not afraid to say what I think and to stand up for things that are important to me. I am respectful, honest, and can find joy in the smallest things, like being able to order the right coffee in the morning in a country where I don't speak the language. ^^

More details about my language interests
For me, languages are what maths are for others: the key to understanding the heart, the mind and ultimately the world. With language, we can connect and create new bonds that can overcome differences and distance or set boundries to create a comfortable and welcoming environment. That's why I love teaching them. In the role of a language student, I learn through asking questions and connecting new words or structures to the other languages I know. I want to know why things are said or done in a certain way to understand the deeper levels of a language or a culture.

  • More details about your skills

I am a university-trained language teacher and speak Swiss German, German, English, Italian, French, Spanish and started learning Korean as a hobby one and a half years ago. As a teacher, I am good at planning and executing projects, I have a good eye for detail and am good at improvising, because things often don't go as planned or wished when working with teenagers.
During my studies, I've worked in different restaurants, hotels and even a mountain lodge as a waitress and allrounder.
I have taken care of my friends' children of all ages from time to time, I have a Swiss driver's license and am self-sufficient.

  • What else ...

I am interested in a lot of things: art, music, cultural activities, some walking and hiking, sometimes riding a bicycle, travelling by train or plane, going sight-seeing, reading, singing (e.g. Karaoke, although not very well) and dancing. I dance a bit of salsa (on one), bachata, and disco fox on a basic level. I like board or card games that are about fun (not the strategy), e.g. UNO, Tabu, Scrabble, Dominoes or Trivial Pursuit. The most important thing for me is enjoying and spending quality time with my friends and family and being open to try new things.

    • Allergies

    • Special dietary requirements
I have various intolerances and quite a long list of things I can't eat because of them. I am used to travelling, so I'm sure I can find an arrangement with hosts, especially if there is the possibility of preparing food on my own.
