Description
Eitan 66– a product manager, Orly 58- a community organizer. Orly studied Permaculture in Israel and has volunteered helping professionals in 3rd world countries (Sierra Leon, Nepal) to empower their communities through efficient processes of community organizing. We love traveling and had the chance to volunteer through workaway twice in the past years- in eco projects in south France and in Greece.
In 2016 we started The Urban Eco-Oasis - a unique Israeli ecologic community enterprise nurturing urban sustainable living, social businesses, civic activism and social-responsibility. www.imhateva.co.il (https://www.facebook.com/EcoOasis.GanYavne/) We operate within a youth village for 200 at risk children ages 6-18 removed from their homes by court order. The Eco Oasis started on a barren piece of land (1.5 acres) strewn with garbage and thorns. After cleaning the property, we planted 250 trees creating a Food Forest and about 750 medical herbs and spices.. We built eco-facilities that allow us to run educational programs for the children of the youth village and also to host groups, workshops, retreats and community gatherings. Also, we started a community cooperative for manufacturing organic natural cosmetics. There are 250 members in our cooperative and we manufacture, for our own use, about 40 different natural organic cosmetic products. (www.livelachcoop.co.il)
The Urban Eco-Oasis is constantly being developed by thousands of volunteers– children, teens, young adults and adults. We hosted a few workaway volunteers who came to Israel from around the world so we know to appreciate the value of people giving their time to partner with us in making our dream come true.
