Description
I'm a 35 year old guy from Ireland. I lived between Spain and Portugal for the past 10 years and but am now currently back home soil in Ireland.
During my time abroad I've mostly worked as an English teacher, but over the last 3 years I returned to university and I'm finishing my degree in Creative Technologies. Over these years I've also returned to Ireland to work some summer seasons in construction and landscaping/gardening.
My experiences in Workaway have been fantastic. Between hosts in the Basque Country, Andalucia, northern and southern Portugal I've done construction, woodwork, decor, child care, animal care, gardening and hospitality. Developing skills is always great, but it's been greater to connect with the hosts, other volunteers, local people and other foreigners in the area. Since my first Workaway the thought of travelling and experiencing the world in any other way now seems less attractive and less interesting to me as there's no better way to get to know a new place slowly and through sharing time with its residents.
I'm a music nerd and love playing music with people. People say I look like a rocker, (and they're right!) but I love listening to and playing any kind of music. I also love anything creative or arts related. All this said, I consider myself a very creative and hands-on person! However, I'm very interested in technology too and am always willing and enthusiastic to learn something completely new.
I speak Spanish fluently, intermediate Portuguese and would love any opportunity to share our languages, cultures and stories.

I'm passionate about the arts. I love to play guitar, draw, read and recently have started courses in graphic design, illustration and tattooing. (You can see my art on my Instagram profile "babbydabbler")
I love to get out into nature with hiking and getting into the sea. I used to surf a little at home in Ireland and would love to try more of. Any kind of adventure sport or activity I'm always excited to do.
My family ran a seasonal hostel in the rural west of Ireland which I frequently helped with. This included preparing and cleaning of the rooms and facilities, pick-up and drop-off of the guests, preparing breakfasts and meals, tourist information and personalised guides of the areas.
I like to cook a varied mix of cuisines from different cultures, mainly vegetarian dishes but also occasionally meats and fish on request. I guess I am a flexitarian!
I'm always enthusiastic and willing to try my hand at learning new things, improving my skills and meeting new people.
I guess I'm handy, as growing up rurally on a farm required it. I enjoy physical labor and relish in being creative with projects around the house. For the past few months I have been helping a building contractor in construction of a new house and renovations (in photos). I've recently converted a bedroom into an office space and slowly finishing our workshop.
The last year has been so busy that I'm not doing as much of my passions (making music, drawing) as I'm also finishing a course in web and software development. The hope is to find fulltime work in that area in the near future.
So I'm hoping to find hosts where I can do hard work and help you in your projects, while still having some downtime to study, hang out, play music, draw, explore and drink a few beers!
