Hi! I’m Cindy from Taiwan, currently traveling the world with a backpack and an open mind. I love exploring different cultures, meeting people from all walks of life, and learning through real experiences. I’m an easygoing, respectful, and curious person who enjoys hiking, good food, and meaningful conversations.

I’ve worked professionally as a systems analyst, so I’m organized and responsible, but I also enjoy simple moments like sharing meals, helping with daily tasks, and hearing local stories. Recently, I’ve been traveling through South America and planning long-term adventures across Central America and the Caribbean.

I used to volunteer with Australian Refugee Volunteers, helping organize monthly programs that support children and families from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds. This experience taught me the importance of kindness, connection, and community. That’s why I joined Workaway — I believe travel becomes far more meaningful through cultural exchange, shared experiences, and giving back wherever I go.

More details about my language interests
I can teach beginner Mandarin, as I have previous experience teaching students in India. I really enjoy language exchange and helping people feel more confident communicating in a new language. I’m patient, encouraging, and happy to adapt my teaching style depending on the learner’s level and goals. At the same time, I would love to continue improving my Spanish while traveling through South and Central America. I enjoy learning languages because I can have deeper connections with people, and I’m always excited to practice, learn from locals, and exchange knowledge with others.

I studied finance and have always been comfortable working with numbers, problem-solving, and staying organized. I’m fluent in both Mandarin and English after living overseas for more than 10 years, and I previously taught Mandarin to students in India, which helped me develop patience and communication skills.

I also enjoy community and volunteer work. In the past, I helped organize events for children and volunteered on a project rebuilding a library by sorting books and teaching school children how to use the library system.

Alongside my professional background, I’ve done many part-time hospitality jobs preparing and serving food, so I’m comfortable working in fast-paced environments and helping wherever needed. I’m adaptable, quick to learn, and always happy to contribute with a positive attitude.
