Description
Hello!
My name is Beth and I am a university student who loves nature, travel and being active (especially weightlifting, hiking, and water sports). I'm from rural Saskatchewan, Canada and am currently residing in Montreal, Canada.
I am looking for opportunities to meet new people, engage in sustainable projects, and participate in cultural exchange. I am vaccinated against covid and can bring my own sleeping supplies if needed.
Most of my work/life experience has been in community mobilization. Specifically, Ive worked in the areas of sustainable food, gender equality, public health, and exercise science. In many of these areas I have facilitated workshops and events for my community. I also have experience with organizational outreach via social media, as well as planning larger events.
In addition, I live a "buy (almost) nothing new" approach to life, where I get most of my clothes and items second hand though barter facebook groups, off the street, and at thrift shops.
Earlier this summer I did an internship with cellphilming, which are short videos made on a mobile device that convey a social message. I have always known the power of the arts in community mobilization, but through this internship I learnt that it is also a great way to engage community members in research and advocacy! I learnt how to put on cellhilming workshops, specifically with kids if tis is something of interest to you.Interests

I am a bilingual student with experience working in the vulnerable sector, event hosting, communications, and community outreach! I am passionate about community-based sustainable development, science-based trauma and addiction treatments, and mental health advocacy, specifically in the field of eating disorder recovery, exercise science, and sexual health. I am also proficient in all Adobe and Microsoft software, Mailchimp, and statistical software (R, JASP). I also have extensive experience working with school-age kids as well as the elderly population. However, my main area of work is in community outreach through workshop facilitation, event planning, and canvassing. I would be happy to share my previous experiences with you in more detail and/or provide you with my resume.
