Nos tomaremos un año sabático de nuestros trabajos en Oxford, Inglaterra, para viajar alrededor del mundo. Empezaremos por la Patagonia y nos dirigiremos hacia el norte a través de Sudamérica. Después, esperamos ir a Asia y regresar por tierra a través de Europa. Intentamos aprovechar al máximo los viajes tranquilos, conociendo e interactuando con la gente en lugar de simplemente ir de un lado a otro y ver los paisajes.

Hablamos español intermedio e inglés fluido. Phuong habla francés y Ben tiene un nivel básico de alemán. Buscamos una oportunidad completamente en español para poder practicar.

Somos muy prácticos y hemos realizado muchos proyectos en casa, incluyendo fontanería, mortero, carpintería básica y pintura. Tenemos una mentalidad creativa y podemos generar múltiples ideas para cualquier situación y luego evaluar sus ventajas. Estamos pensando en pintar un mural en la pared de casa cuando regresemos.

Tenemos algo de experiencia en jardinería, pero no somos expertos. Solo tenemos un pequeño jardín en Inglaterra, con un ciruelo, cerezos, una higuera pequeña y un abedul de papel que Phuong cultivó a partir de semillas. Ben tiene algunas limitaciones para agacharse durante largos periodos o levantar pesas debido a un problema de espalda crónico, que en general se alivia con la práctica diaria de Pilates.

Comemos principalmente comida vegetariana y vegana, pero a veces también comemos carne. A Ben le gusta cocinar una variedad de platos y, durante la pandemia, cocinó platos de diferentes países cada semana, abarcando un total de 80 países. Nos interesa la sostenibilidad, intentamos reducir nuestras emisiones de carbono al máximo y nos apasiona el reciclaje y el compostaje.

En cuanto a aficiones, Ben dirige un grupo de filosofía comunitaria en Oxford, le gusta la poesía, la lectura, el arte y pasear por la naturaleza. A ambos nos apasiona la observación de aves y, hasta ahora, hemos identificado más de 100 especies diferentes en Sudamérica. También nos gusta aprender idiomas (¡demasiado Duolingo!), escuchar la radio y los podcasts. A ambos nos interesa escuchar y tocar música (guitarra, piano, batería): Ben es un apasionado; ¡Phuong tiene el talento!

En casa, ambos trabajamos con datos y estadística, así que podríamos ayudar con cualquier problema técnico con computadoras, Excel, programación, sitios web, etc.

We are taking a year off from our jobs in Oxford, England to travel around the world - starting in Patagonia and heading northwards through South America. We’re then hoping to go to Asia and then back through Europe overland. We're trying to embrace 'slow travel' as much as possible, meeting and engaging with people rather than just dashing around and seeing the sights.

We speak intermediate Spanish as well as fluent English. Phuong speaks French and Ben speaks basic German. We're looking for an opportunity entirely in Spanish so that we can practice.

We're very practical and have undertaken many projects around our house, including plumbing, mortaring, basic woodwork, painting. We have a creative mindset and can come up with multiple ideas for a situation, then assess the merits of the ideas. We’re thinking of painting a mural on the wall at home when we return.

We have some experience gardening but are not experts. We have only a small garden in England, with a plum tree, cherry trees, small fig tree and a paper birch which Phuong grew from seed. Ben has some limitations on bending for long periods or lifting heavy weights because of a long-term back problem, which is generally ok nowadays and managed through daily Pilates practice.

We eat mostly vegetarian and vegan food, but do sometimes eat meat too. Ben likes to cook a variety of dishes, and cooked dishes from different countries each week during the pandemic, covering 80 countries overall. We're interested in sustainability, try to reduce our carbon emissions as much as practicable and are keen on recycling and composting.

For hobbies, Ben runs a community philosophy group in Oxford, likes poetry, reading, art and walking in nature. We are both keen bird-watchers and have identified over 100 different species in South America so far. We also like learning languages (too much Duolingo!), listening to radio and podcasts. We're both interested in listening to and playing music (guitar, piano, drums): Ben excels in enthusiasm; Phuong has the talent!

At home, we both work in data and statistics, so we might be able to help with any technical problems on computers, with Excel, programming, websites etc.

Buscamos una oportunidad completamente en español para poder practicar. Estamos abiertos a ayudar a personas a aprender inglés o a realizar intercambios (español-inglés). Nos interesa aprender un poco de los idiomas de todos los países que visitamos, por lo que hablamos un poco de muchos. Durante nuestros viajes, nos hemos centrado en el español, y nuestro francés y alemán han sufrido un poco; si intentamos hablar otro idioma, ¡corremos el riesgo de que el español se nos escape! ------------- We're looking for an opportunity entirely in Spanish so that we can practice. We're open to helping people to learn English or exchanges (Spanish-English). We are interested in learning a little of the languages of all the countries we go to, and so speak a little of a lot of languages. Whilst travelling, we've been focusing on Spanish, and our French and German have suffered a little - if we try to speak another language, there's a danger that Spanish will come out!

Somos voluntarios prácticos y adaptables con un gran interés en el aprendizaje, la sostenibilidad y el intercambio cultural. Hablamos inglés con fluidez y español intermedio, y nos encantaría trabajar completamente en español para mejorar nuestras habilidades lingüísticas. We are practical, adaptable volunteers with a strong interest in learning, sustainability, and cultural exchange. We both speak fluent English and intermediate Spanish, and we are keen to work entirely in Spanish to improve our language skills. Phuong also speaks French, and Ben has basic German.

We have hands-on experience with home improvement and maintenance projects, including basic plumbing, mortaring, woodwork, painting, and general DIY. We enjoy problem-solving and have a creative mindset, often generating and evaluating multiple ideas for a project. We are particularly interested in creative projects such as painting and murals.

We have some experience with gardening and plant care, including maintaining a small garden with fruit trees. While we are not expert gardeners, we are reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable following instructions. Ben manages a long-term back condition well through daily Pilates, but avoids prolonged heavy lifting or continuous bending.

We are confident in the kitchen, particularly with vegetarian and vegan cooking. Ben enjoys cooking a wide variety of international dishes and is comfortable preparing meals for others. We are interested in sustainable living practices, including recycling, composting, and reducing environmental impact.

Professionally, we both work in data and statistics and are comfortable with computers and technology. We can help with tasks such as Excel, basic programming, troubleshooting technical issues, websites, or general digital organisation if needed.
