  • Description

Hi! My name is Asha, I’m a librarian and a charity social media manager from London!
I’m a friendly and outgoing person, I love meeting new people and exploring new places. I love cooking, I was vegetarian for 8 years so know my way around a plant-based kitchen but now, as I eat meat again, I can cook just about anything! As a teenager, I helped run a kitchen garden for my school, so I’m not afraid to get my hands muddy!
I’m also super creative, painting, crochet, crafts, writing, video editing, I love it all! I’m happy to help out with creative projects no matter the scope. I’m also studying for a masters in contemporary literature, so will gladly chat to you about philosophy, art, psychology, literature and more!
As a librarian (and former English tutor!) I’ll make a great language exchange partner. I’m learning French currently and would love to learn from you on my visit! My work currently involves children so I have a clear DBS check (certificate of good behaviour) from the government that allows me to work with kids.

I joined Workaway because I’ve always wanted to travel the world but am not too drawn towards touristy travel. I want to live like a local and get to know the people that make a country what it is. Currently my dream is to visit France and experience somewhere a little off the beaten track so I can improve my French and learn more about French culture. (I’m particularly interested in the food, so please share recipes with me if you can!)

I’m looking forward to staying with you!

I am learning French and currently I am at an A2 level. I’m really keen to practice speaking and learn more of the language. In exchange, I can help out with English teaching. I am a librarian in a school with two degrees in English and years of tuition experience so will be of great help.

  • More details about your skills

I have a BA in English Literature and am working towards an MA in Contemporary Literature. This combined with 6 years of English tutoring experience will make me a great language exchange partner or teacher.

I’m pretty handy and strong (and tall!), so any heavy-lifting/manual labour tasks are great! I have a certificate in manual handling from my workplace, too, so no health and safety concerns here!

I am a great cook and a creative person, and I love gardening.

I work as a social media manager for a charity here in London, so I’m super organised and familiar with all social media; how to grow your following, how to schedule and create content. I can edit photos and videos, write copy, do email marketing, the works!

  • What else ...

I love yoga! I have a regular practice of 2-3 times a week.
I also play Dungeons and Dragons as a DM (if you know, you know!) This is a great way to bring together a group of people around a table for some silly fun, if you’ve never played before, I’d love to introduce you!
