  Description

  We are a family living in the mountains of the southern sierra in Oaxaca. We are dedicated to the countryside, animals, agriculture, and construction with natural materials.
  
  Our family consists of me, my wife, and my two daughters who help us every day to take out the chickens, feed them, and herd the goats. Every day we get together for breakfast after feeding the animals, we work on building our houses, we go to the ranch, or we prepare food to sell from house to house or at a local weekly market.

  Somos una familia viviendo en las montañas de la sierra sur en Oaxaca. Nos dedicamos al campo, los animales, la agricultura, construcción con materiales naturales.
  Nuestra familia consiste de yo y mi esposa y mis dos hijas que nos ayudan todos los días a sacar a las gallinas, darles de comer, pastorear a las cabras.
  Todos los días nos reunimos a desayunar después de alimentar a los animales, trabajamos en construcciones de nuestras casas, vamos al rancho o preparamos alimentos para vender de casa en casa o en un mercadito local semanal.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  You will be able to learn regional green building methods. You will be able to learn how to cook tamales, make tortillas from the corn harvest to a delicious quesadilla. You will be able to get to know the community through a market that we participate in weekly and another larger one monthly. We love to go to the countryside often to collect mushrooms, herbs, or to walk and enjoy the day.

  Podrás aprender métodos de bioconstrucción regionales.
  Podrás aprender a cocinar tamales, hacer tortillas desde la cosecha del maíz hasta una deliciosa quesadilla.
  Podrás conocer a la comunidad a través de un mercado al cual participamos semanalmente y otro más grande mensualmente.
  Nos encanta ir al campo seguido a recolectar hongos, hierbas, o a caminar y disfrutar el día.

  Help

  We need help to go every morning to take out the chickens and make sure the goats have food, either by herding them or going to the fields for pasture. We want to start planting alfalfa for the goats, which we would work on together to prepare the soil for planting and beds for perennial vegetables.
  
  I work with clay to build, and those who are interested can also learn how we build here in San Sebastian through the experience of building local houses.

  Necesitamos ayuda para ir todas las mañanas a sacar a las gallinas y asegurarnos que las cabras tienen de comer, sea pastoresndolas o yendo al campo por pasto.
  Queremos empezar a sembrar alfalfa para las cabras, lo cual trabajaríamos juntos en la elaboración del suelo para la siembra y camas de cultivo para verduras perenes.
  
  Yo trabajo con el barro para construir, al que le interese también puede conocer como construimos aquí en San Sebastian a través de la experiencia de la construcción de casas locales.

  Accommodation

  We have a little house that we built in a tree! It is a wooden room with a double bed where we provide enough blankets for the cold of the mountain. We will share breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are flexible in what to cook and what to eat within our limitations. The bathroom has water and to bathe we do it by heating a bucket of water and jicarasos.

  Tenemos una casita que construimos en un árbol! Es un cuarto de madera con una cama doble donde les proporcionamos cobijas suficientes para el frío de la montaña.
  Compartiremos desayuno, comida y cena. Somos flexibles en qué cocinar y que comer dentro de nuestras limitaciones.
  El baño es de agua y para bañarnos lo hacemos calentando una cubeta de agua y a jicarasos

  We don't speak English, but it is recommended that you have basic Spanish so that we can communicate. In your free time you can go to nearby towns, the coast is three hours away by bus, and the city of Oaxaca is another three hours away.
  
  Our life is slow and we enjoy work and our animals. We invite people who visit us to experience this country life and simplicity.

  En su tiempo libre pueden ir a pueblos cercanos, la costa está a tres horas en camión, y la ciudad de Oaxaca a otras tres horas.
