  • Description

Hi! I’m Amelia, a grounded and adaptable creative professional currently in a period of transition and looking for new environments to contribute to.

For the past few years, I’ve balanced a career as a remote Creative Access PA with training in Shiatsu bodywork and experience in hospitality. I’m a 'people person' at heart and thrive in spaces where communication, empathy, and organisation are valued.

I’m currently looking for Workaway opportunities that allow me to bring my skills to a family home, community or project while I continue my part time remote work. I’m just as comfortable managing a spreadsheet or a calendar as I am pulling pints, helping in a garden, or supporting the wellbeing of others.

More details about my language interests
While language learning hasn't always come easily to me, I care deeply about connecting with people. I spent a year living and studying in Copenhagen, which gave me a great appreciation for the effort it takes to communicate across language barriers! I am always enthusiastic to learn and practice new phrases, especially with hosts who have an empathetic and playful approach to teaching. I'm a great listener and very happy to help others practice their English in return.

Helping with the "Behind the Scenes" (Admin & Tech)
I’ve spent a lot of time working as a remote PA and in various admin roles (including for the NHS and arts organisations like the National Theatre). What that means for you is that I’m very organised and comfortable at a desk. If you have a general "life admin" that feels overwhelming, I’m your person! I’m reliable, tech-savvy, and used to getting things done without fuss.

    People, Hospitality & Staying Calm
I’ve worked in my fair share of busy pubs and restaurants, so I’m very used to the "front of house" life. I love meeting new people and making guests feel at home. Whether it’s pulling a pint, serving food, or just being a welcoming face at a front desk, I really enjoy the social side of work. I’m a calm person and don't get flustered easily when things get a bit hectic.

    Working with Young People
I’ve worked on quite a few projects with kids and teenagers, from co-producing arts festivals to working in museums. I’m patient, empathetic, and I genuinely enjoy the energy of a family environment. I have a lot of experience supporting people with different access needs (including a Level 2 in Understanding Autism), so I’m very mindful of creating a supportive and inclusive space for children to be themselves.

Getting Stuck In (Technical & Physical)
I’m definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty! I’ve worked as a venue technician at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - building stages and running lighting rigs - so I’m quite handy and happy to muck in with physical tasks, whether that's setting up a space, light gardening, or general housekeeping. I’m a fast learner and happy to help wherever I'm needed most.

    Wellbeing & Connection
My interest in holistic health is quite personal; after navigating a period of Long Covid a few years ago, I found that Shiatsu treatment was the key to my recovery. It had such a profound impact on me that I decided to begin training in it myself last year. While I’ve decided to hit pause on the formal qualification for now, that experience has given me a deep appreciation for the nervous system, the importance of rest, and a very empathetic, grounded approach to supporting others.

  • What else ...

Nature: I love a long walk, especially if there's a good view or a body of water nearby. Since my recovery from Long Covid, I’ve learned to really appreciate the pace of the outdoors and the importance of fresh air.

Creative & Cultural: My background is in the arts, so I’m always up for visiting a local gallery, seeing a play, or chatting about films and music.

Games, Food & Good Beer: I’m a fan of low-stakes board games (I'll never turn down a game of Catan or a deck of cards!) and I really appreciate a good local craft beer - partly from my years working behind the bar.

Adventures & Travel: Having lived in Copenhagen and worked at festivals like the Edinburgh Fringe, I have a bit of a 'nomadic' spirit and love seeing how different communities operate.

The Small Joys: Cooking is how I unwind. I love the process of putting a meal together and sharing conversation at the end of the day. I’m a respectful, tidy houseguest who tries to find the humour and light in most situations.
