  • Description

Here’s an updated version with those additions woven in naturally:

We are a family of three who have spent the last five years living and hosting on the beautiful island of Siargao in the Philippines. During this time, we have absolutely loved welcoming Workawayers from all over the world into our life and community, supporting our Worldschooling hub and permaculture project.

Our project has centered around creating a nature-based, self-directed learning space for children, alongside developing a permaculture-inspired way of living and learning on the land. Hosting has been a huge part of our journey, and we’ve met incredible people who have become part of our extended global family.

Two years ago, our world changed when my wife unexpectedly passed away. Since then, we have continued as a family of three, navigating a new chapter together with resilience, love, and a deep appreciation for connection and community.

Now, we are embarking on a new adventure. We are hitting the road, travelling overland from Vietnam towards the UK, and hoping to continue living as lightly and openly as possible along the way. We are excited to keep meeting people, sharing skills, exchanging stories, and experiencing new places through the Workaway spirit.

I am an artist, musician, and cook, and I bring a creative and hands-on approach to everything I do. My kids are also deeply involved in our daily life and projects and help out across almost every domain, from practical tasks to creative and community-based work.

We bring experience in worldschooling, permaculture, community living, hosting volunteers, and creating learning environments rooted in nature and freedom. More than anything, we value kindness, shared effort, and meaningful cultural exchange.

We look forward to meeting you somewhere along the road.

  • More details about your skills

We bring a wide and varied set of practical and creative skills shaped by years of living, building, and learning in a hands-on, community-based environment.

I work as a holistic educational practitioner, with a focus on supporting natural, self-directed learning, wellbeing, and whole-child development. This is deeply woven into our worldschooling lifestyle and community projects.

I am also a skilled carpenter, with experience building and maintaining simple, functional structures using natural and locally available materials, often within permaculture-based systems and off-grid settings.

Permaculture is at the heart of our lifestyle and work. I have years of practical experience designing and working with food forests, soil regeneration, compost systems, and integrated ecological growing spaces that support both people and environment.

Creativity is a constant thread in my life. I am an artist and musician, using creative practice as a way to connect, communicate, and build community.

I am also a cook, comfortable working with simple, nourishing food, often improvising with what is available and enjoying the process of feeding people well.

Overall, I would describe myself as a creative, adaptable, and practical all-rounder, comfortable learning new skills quickly and contributing wherever needed. Our approach is hands-on, collaborative, and rooted in shared living, problem-solving, and creative exploration.

My children are also actively involved in daily life and contribute across many areas, from practical tasks to creative projects and community participation.
