I am looking to go to Sweden for a few weeks for my first Workaway experience !

Description

Hi! My name is Alexandre, I’m 21 years old and I’m from France. I grew up in Lyon and I’ve been living in Grenoble for the past two years, where I study engineering in chemistry and biomaterials.

I’m looking to join Workaway because I have a few free months at the end of my academic year, and I would like to use this time to travel on my own, step out of my comfort zone, meet new people and improve my English. I find the idea both exciting and a bit challenging, especially since I have never traveled alone before, but I believe this kind of experience can be very rewarding.

I would describe myself as curious, calm and easygoing. I can be quite outgoing once I feel comfortable in a new environment, and I really enjoy connecting with people. I like working independently, but I especially appreciate teamwork when there is a good group dynamic.

In terms of skills, I have experience in babysitting (with children aged 5 to 10) and tutoring a teenager. I am comfortable with children and enjoy spending time with them, although I have less experience with very young kids. I can also help with basic cooking and daily tasks. I don’t have much experience yet in DIY or gardening, but I am motivated, hands-on, and I learn quickly.

I have also worked at local markets, helping a fruit and vegetable seller with setting up and taking down the stand, transporting goods, and occasionally assisting with sales. I am comfortable with physical work and don’t mind getting my hands dirty.

I have experience with babysitting and tutoring, and I’m comfortable working with children. I can also help with basic cooking and everyday tasks. Even though I don’t have much experience in DIY or gardening yet, I’m motivated, hands-on, and I learn quickly.

What else ...

Last summer, I had a meaningful experience when I spent a month in Sarajevo with four classmates as part of a humanitarian project. We worked with an organization to support migrants living near camps by distributing clothes and hygiene kits. It was a very enriching experience that taught me a lot about
teamwork, adaptability and human connection.

In my free time, I enjoy sports (especially football, hiking, biking and skiing), music (rap, jazz, house), chess, and spending time with friends. I used to play the guitar and still enjoy it occasionally.

I’m open-minded and flexible when it comes to destinations, and I’m mainly looking for a positive human experience where I can help, learn and share.
