Je suis un écrivain et ingénieur logiciel roumano-américain qui a grandi à Portland, Oregon, USA. J’aime la randonnée, le vélo, la natation en plein air, les livres, le football (daje Roma!), la cuisine, travailler avec mes mains, rencontrer de nouvelles personnes et voyager.

J’ai récemment quitté mon emploi pour passer cinq mois en France. Mes objectifs pour ce voyage sont de découvrir le pays en dehors des attractions touristiques habituelles (je les ai appréciées lors d’un voyage précédent), d’entrer plus en contact avec la nature et mon corps en travaillant avec mes mains, de me connecter avec des personnes vivant en France et d’améliorer mon français. J’écris aussi un roman!

I'm a Romanian-American writer and software engineer who grew up in Portland, Oregon, USA. I love hiking, biking, swimming outdoors, books, soccer (daje Roma!), cooking, working with my hands, meeting new people, and traveling.

I recently quit my job so I can spend five months in France. My goals for this trip are to experience the country outside the usual touristic attractions (I've enjoyed them on a previous trip), get more in touch with nature and my body by working with my hands, connect with people living in France, and improve my French. Also, I'm writing a novel!

Mais je suis aussi capable de travailler avec mes mains ! Au cours d’un de mes anciens travaux de construction de sentiers de randonnée, je vivais dans une tente dans la forêt et je travaillais avec des pelles, des houes, et des haches. J’ai aider mes parents dans leur jardin aussi.

J’ai de l’expérience dans la construction et avec les outils électriques. J’ai participé à la construction de maisons avec Habitat for Humanity, j’ai suivi un cours de menuiserie de dix semaines et j’ai aidé mon père à réaliser de nombreux projets dans la maison. Je peux marteler un clou, couper et mesurer du bois, verser du béton, peindre un mur, accrocher des cloisons sèches, et bien plus encore.

J’aime l’éducation et travailler avec les enfants. J’ai passé neuf semaines à faire du bénévolat dans un camp d’été, où j’ai diverti, soigné et enseigné des cabanes à une dizaine d’enfants de 12 ans. J’ai de l’expérience de travail avec de jeunes enfants ainsi que dans des camps de foot et des programmes de lecture. En plus de cela, j’ai enseigné en mathématiques, en informatique, en littérature anglaise et en anglais.

J’aime cuisiner aussi! J’ai organisé beaucoup de dîners pour 10-15 amis. Je fais aussi souvent du pain au levain, du kombucha ou de la choucroute en fermentation. Et finalement, j’étais obsédé par le café et je travaillais comme barista.

J’aime l’artisanat comme la reliure, l’impression typographique et la couture. Je suis également en grande forme, car je soulève des poids au gymnase et joue au tennis et au football.

But I’m also capable of working with my hands! During one of my past jobs building hiking trails, I lived out of a tent in the forest and worked with shovels, hoes, axes, and loppers. I have experience working in my parents’ garden too.

I have experience with construction and power tools as well. I’ve helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity, took a ten week woodworking class, and have helped my dad with plenty of projects around the house. I can hammer a nail, cut and measure wood, pour concrete, paint a wall, hang drywall, and much more.

I love education and working with children. I spent nine weeks volunteering a publicly funded summer camp, where I entertained, cared for, and taught cabins of around ten twelve-year-olds. I have experience working with younger children as well in soccer camps and reading programs. In addition to that, I’ve tutored a wide age range in math, computer science, English literature, and the English language.

I love cooking too! I have hosted lots of dinner parties for 10-15 friends. I’m also often baking sourdough bread, brewing kombucha, or fermenting sauerkraut. And finally, I used to be obsessed with coffee and worked as a barista.

I enjoy crafts like bookbinding, letterpress printing, and sewing. I’m also in great shape, as I lift weights at the gym and play tennis and soccer.
