I'm Alena, a 20-year-old artist, aspiring anthropologist and lover of all things nature-related. Being half German and British Indian, I have grown up in a multilingual household that blended language and culture with a love for travel, reciprocity, and care.
Those I know have said I carry a warm energy, attaching kindness and reliability, with a calming, attentive demeanour. Over the years, I have partaken in three workaways, as well as multiple volunteering experiences and jobs ranging from museum settings, fine-dining, university support, and animal care. I hope to continue to travel, learn from those I meet, and continue to embark on a pathway paved towards centring eco-consciousness, sustainability, and relational care as central.
As I have grown, I have learnt to be independent; from travelling solo, to co-managing a coffee shop, art festival and research-led projects. I pride myself on being a hard-working, self-reliant and keen learner, always ready to tackle something new! Now living in London with my partner Oscar; both a filmmaker and historian, we spend our everyday either with our head stuck in a book from our university's library, sharing the kitchen to make meals for one another, cycling to a new exhibition, or spending a relaxed evening with friends and family.
Through a love for making knowledge more accessible, as well as interplaying memory making with sensorial experiences, I try to carry my camera and book everywhere with me, a quiet tool to relish in lone moments spent in nature, listening out for the song of birds and the faint shadows of a tree's ever-changing patterned shade.
