  • Description

My name is Ashley Kromer, I’m 27 years young and from the USA! I will be travelling from Thailand to Vietnam via Laos in May 2026. I am hoping to stay on a farm or homestead for about a week when I am in Laos or Vietnam!
I grew up in Nashville, TN and have lived in Maine for the last 3 years before deciding to travel. My passions include aligning with and learning from nature, gardening, hiking, camping and travelling! My background is in organic farming and gardening. I hold a bachelors degree in Environmental Studies and Political Science. Since graduating, I have completed two organic farming apprenticeships and managed a school and community garden in Maine, USA. In 2023, I completed an herbal apprenticeship focused on medicinal herbs. Additionally, I have wwoofed around the US and designed and maintained my own gardens. Most recently, I WWOOFed at a Permaculture Farm in New Zealand where I gained hands-on learning with nutrient cycling, mulching, companion planting, hot composting and practicing a holistic mindset. I have experience in seeding, transplanting, succession planting, cultivating, mulching, weeding, harvesting, processing and storing of vegetables. I pride myself in reliability, efficiency and positivity. I have a strong interest in permaculture and sustainable food forests. I dream of having a homestead/ sustainable eco- community someday!
Apart from my “doings”, I am passionate about re-framing my way of thinking, behavior and environment to align with the cycles of nature. Mother Earth holds so much wisdom, and if we take the time to observe, listen and align with her natural ways, we can live a more sensible, sustainable and resilient life. I am dedicated to taking steps to learn more about this lifestyle!
Besides gardening, I enjoy travelling, hiking, camping, spontaneous adventures, swimming, star gazing, cooking, star gazing, reading and listening too/ sharing stories! I also have a strong interest and love for Buddhist philosophy, it is what inspired me to explore Asia! I (try) to meditate everyday and love reading Buddhist books!
If you think we could be a good fit; please reach out!!
    Cheers,
    Ashley :)

Since arriving in New Zealand, I have WWOOFed at two different locations. The first host was in Tasman where I helped them plant native trees around the property and then they graciously welcomed me to house-sit for them through the winter. Most recently, I WWOOFed at a Permaculture Farm near Hastings where I got hands-on experience with nutrient cycling, mulching, companion planting, cold&hot composting and worm farming. I have experience in seeding, transplanting, succession planting, cultivating, mulching, weeding, harvesting, processing and storing of vegetables. • What else ...

Apart from travelling, hiking and gardening, I love hanging out with people! I enjoy cooking and sharing meals together, playing card games, hanging out around a campfire, going tramping and swimming. I really enjoy the cultural exchange of a homestay and am always interested to learn special games or pastimes specific to that culture.
