Description
My name is Ivan. I'm a filmmaker from Kyiv, Ukraine, though I've been living in Poland for the last 10 years.
I finished a film school in Warsaw and am now a freelance film and commercial director and editor. My biggest passion is film and art in general.
I've joined Workaway to bring myself closer to fundamental parts of human existence, which are nature, work with earth, wood, water, connection with animals among other things. All the things life in a big city deprives you of. My upbringing has been very urbanistic and now that I'm older I feel there's a lot for me to discover in the quiet of rural life. If I want to depict reality in my movies truthfully, I need to bring myself closer to parts of it I ignored for too long.
I'm vegetarian and don't smoke or drink. I don't have a lot of practical and manual experience with farm/house work, though I'm sporty and eager to learn, and you will never see me complaining. I'm socially and politically engaged, as for a while I have been organizing film clubs where we gather funds for those in need in Ukraine. Would love to learn your story, your perspective. -

My skills are mainly film adjacent. I have an analogue camera of my own, and can take pictures around your place.

I don't have a digital camera, though we can edit some footage in case you have such, or shoot something on our phones. We can also do writing and film discussions / clubs.
As for manual skills - I've had some experience with "work in the trenches" while working in a production design department, though it has been some years ago. Nevertheless I'm a tall sporty guy, who's used to working long hours, carrying around stuff and getting his hands dirty, so you won't see me complaining. I'm eager to learn new stuff, such as gardening, carpentry, animal care etc. -
