Description
We are Sam and Jay, an English couple interested in sustainable building and farming practices and are wanting to explore as much as possible of New Zealand.
We have been together for four years and are planning on getting married in New Zealand.
Sam is a Carpenter and Maintenance Engineer who has travelled Australia and Canada in the past doing workaway in both countries and has 10 years of construction experience in the UK.
Jay is an Environmental Science graduate with experience in hospitality and catering alongside environmental research and fieldwork.
We have recently restored our 120 year old UK home but we are both very keen on having our own smallholding in the Uk in the future and would be aiming to be as self sufficient as possible.
We are both keen outdoor adventurers and are looking to do lots of tramping and other outdoor activities while we are travelling NZ.
We plan on purchasing a van to travel in around NZ when we arrive.
We are both sociable but also independent people who are looking forward to meeting like minded people on our travels.
Sam has 10 years of carpentry experience along with 2 years facility maintenance experience. He has experience in most aspects of house renovation along with experience running ski lifts in Canada and coordination experience at many UK music festivals where Jay and Sam met.
Jay also has plenty of experience in home renovation. She has lots of experience in the hospitality and catering industry alongside supporting adults with disabilities. Her environmental degree comes from a university that prides itself on it’s commitment to sustainability and natural sciences and has remained in the top five ranking for sustainability for a decade. The degree has taught her a wide range of subjects but her most significant interests lie in researching how weather modelling can be used to influence forest management and restoration of habitats for pollinators. She is also an animal lover and very up for taking care of any kind of pets or farm animals. -
