Description
Hello! I'm Ana.
I'm currently taking a gap year before hopefully starting a Master's in Public Health or Physiotherapy (we will see which application succeeds!). I am planning to spend 8 months in Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia in 2026, starting in Bolivia and working my way up.
My friends would describe me as a adventurous and creative person. I have a love of the outdoors and enjoy being surrounded by mountains and ocean. I spend my free time outside climbing, skiing, and sailing. Sometime I teach rock climbing and mountaineering for the local outdoors club. I am an artist at heart and love crafting, sewing, and painting, and most recently pottery.
I love travelling to new locations and building relationships withing the communities I visit.I am passionate about environmental sustainability and interested in learning about permaculture, regenerative agriculture, and low-carbon lifestyles.
Alongside my interest in conservation and sustainability, I care deeply about improving health and education outcomes for people in underprivileged communities. I have previously worked to create accessible content for a science summer camp which was aimed specifically at low-income and indigenous kids. I have also worked in many roles across science outreach and education, mostly in course creation and delivery.

I am a scientist by training, and I have a passion for making education more accessible to children of all backgrounds. I have worked on developing math and science curriculum material for kids 6-18 here in BC, and have also taught activities at science-based summer camps. I love integrating games and art into teaching science concepts, as I find that it makes it fun and engaging for kids.
I grew up on an acreage and became obsessed with sustainable agriculture as a teenager, starting and maintaining a backyard garden for many years. I also helped take care of our many fruit trees and we enjoyed fresh apricots, plums, and cherries every summer. I've also tended to chickens and goats on my family's farm back in Europe.
I am always eager for a challenge and as such have had a lot of jobs! I have a master's in electrical engineering but have spent a summer as an electrician (apprentice) on a coast guard ship. I have been a waitress, barista, nanny, science tutor, landscaper, and construction labourer.
I grew up on a farm and I am generally very capable when it comes to fixing and making things, from electronics to clothing.
