Hi! I am Viktor, 28 years old and currently travelling and working through Australia since the beginning of March.

A little about how I got here:
After completing my Masters in Electro-Mechanical Engineering In Leuven (Belgium), my first jobs were focused around the idea of the Circular Economy, something I had been fascinated with for a while. But I missed working with my hands and decided to start my own business, converting camper vans. After 3 years of self-employment, a growing desire to explore more of the world and my inner goals developed, and I decided to start a new chapter. I packed up, without too many plans, I hopped on the plane, bought a van and here I am. Ready for whatever comes next :)

A little about what I like:
I really love the outdoors, I am a lot into climbing and other alpine stuff, slacklining and highlining (slackline on a height), (back-country) skiing, hiking and trekking,... I brought a lot of my stuff with me to be able to do the same kind of adventures here in Australia. I traveled quite a lot with my parents when I was younger, and from the age of 16y, worked a lot to save and go on backpacking adventures with my friends every summer. Also one of the reasons I became self-employed, to have more control over my earnings and time to fit this lifestyle. I also like playing music, guitar and percussion, mostly with other people!

'Relevant' Workaway experiences:
- My parents own a retreat center in Zeeland, the Netherlands, where there are permanently Workawayers present.
- I had my van building workshop in a cooperation/shared industrial building in Ghent, with a few Workawayers helping out.
- I have a few friends who bought a big boat together, turning it into a exposition space and much more, with the help of Workawayers.

Maybe a little less relevant, but I also worked a winter season in the French Alps as a waiter, being close to the mountains and able to ski every day. Living together with the rest of the staff, away from home, working while enjoying the surroundings.

What I can offer:
I am a practical, hands-on guy, interested in a lot of stuff and eager to learn all kinds of things. From my engineering background, I have some intellectual (math and physics, computer and software, mechanics and electrics,...) and practical experiences. By owning a business, I also learned some soft skills, administrative and logistical insights, an idea of knowing what it is to run one.
I like building, carpenting, designing, repairing, creating,... and would like to learn (even) more about self-sustained living, smart and earth-friendly farming, living more together with nature and every little thing related.

I am used to live and work in communities/cohousing, engaging with different kinds of people, sharing meals and other stuff, respecting the balance between social engagement and privacy, keeping communal spaces tidy, taking responsibilities,... I am known to be easy going and having a general positive attitude in life.

I am a fast learning person and could do a lot of different things, but I also need a reasonable sense of responsibility, trust and freedom. I like to take initiative and perform best when when I feel trusted and challenged.

Last but probably most important, I need a human connection with the people surrounding me. Open, non-violent communication, a sense of community, interesting conversations,... is what makes me flourish. :)

I always dreamt of learning a bit of Spanish. I already got a few lessons on the very basics with my ex-gf's and DuoLingo, but would love to get to a basic conversation level and further sometime.
