Hey!

So after working many years in a corporate world I travelled a bit. And realised what I have been missing.
Hard work has always been installed in me since a young age. My mum actually used to run a nursery so I was always surrounded by teachers.
I would love to now explore other regions and help using skills I have picked up over the years in the business world but also in life. I have extensive DIY experience and renovated my old flat myself.
Mixing with people and sitting round sharing experiences is what I’m looking forward to the most.

So I worked in sales in a corporate world so I have extensive knowledge in computer use, selling, marketing. And website creation.

After growing up around my mum who owned a school I have good teaching and childcare knowledge. I love interactive time with children and watching them learn and pick up things.

I also renovated my old flat by myself. So have experience in painting and carpentry. Also I am good with my hands and electrics and plumbing. I’m not qualified but learnt ways to make things work. Also a keen gardener and love getting involved.

I spent 90 days at this workaway and if it wasn’t for European rules would have loved to stay much more.
This is one of the greatest experiences I’ve had in general including the workaway side and meeting the wonderful hosts and friends.

As soon as I arrived I was made to feel at home. One of the greatest benefits is having your own personal one… read more bedroom apartment. So when you just want a relaxing evening or make some food you have the tools to do so. The host also goes shopping so you can jump in the car with him and purchase your own supplies.
The hosts provided me with items to make breakfast during my whole stay.

Workaway - I did a variety of tasks during my time. In the garden there was red brick path laying, gravelling, composting, digging out a pond and on my final days building concrete slab and brickwork!
Alongside Manoj I also constructed a roof over the terrace , repaired and installed guttering, built an outside bar Also while the family were away I house and pet sat for a few days,

On days the parents had Portuguese lessons I babysat the kids. And few occasions if they needed to go out I volunteered too.
I must make a special mention to Ava and Zac.

The twins are the kindest and sweetest kids you will come across. They will keep you on your toes with the amount of sheer energy they have but they both have the greatest personalities too.
Ava will show you her acrobats and is a clever girl and always made me smile. she will also do anything for chocolate cake.
If I don’t see Zac in a theatre production in the future I will be surprised. He is very affectionate and very helpful. They both are full of talent and enjoyed many night s cooking home made chicken nuggets and chips. Or having a milkshake…..or two….lol.

Lastly I would like to say thank you to the Hosts Sarah and Manoj,
We instantly got along and made the whole experience amazing. They offer the perfect balance of work and time off. As long as your hours are done, they are happy for you to go exploring. I got out to see a lot of places and a lot with there help.
Some of my greatest memories are just sitting round the table drinking beer or wine and just talking…..sometimes to the very early mornings.
During my last week they also helped me plan to tick off all the food places I wanted to go eat at :)

Sarah has a mantra the whole experience has to be win- win for both parties. To be honest I feel like i definitely experienced a winning feeling and never had a bad moment in this whole time.

I hope this isn’t goodbye but look forward to coming back soon!!!xxx
