    ______________________________________________________________________________

I would like to just take a moment to address the current political and humanitarian injustices of my country. I am fundamentally against what the administration is doing and am wholeheartedly ashamed and both dumbfounded by their actions. I hope that the actions of my government will not affect your opinion of me as an individual as I have been actively protesting their policies and actions. I deeply value human rights, other nation's sovereignty, and the connectedness of humanity. I am deeply apologetic and appalled and would be happy to discuss this further if you wish.

    Hey All!!

I don't even know where to begin here! My name is Taylor, I first discovered Workaway when I was on a two year trip around the globe after college. It was an incredible experience that changed my life forever. I experienced so much human kindness it was overwhelming. I stayed on peoples couches, slept in backyards and was fed by strangers. Because I was able to slow down and simply watch, I was able to witness so many quiet moments of humanity! The stuff that glues us all together but we don't really notice. It was a beautiful experience that I am still working to pay forward. For most travelers, you learn so much more than you could ever wish for or known was possible. I am no different! Through conversations with people at bus stops, people waiting in line, and fellow travelers I was able to experience a whole new level of vulnerability. Traveling slowly allowed me to be present, push myself far outside my comfort zone, and to dare boldly!! It was soul altering!

It has been quite a few years since then but I have not forgotten my lessons learned. Since then I have filled my time with other travels and being a regenerative farmer of a non profit farm for six years- my absolute dream job!!!! It was such a special experience to be able to be a steward and witness to soil and bug. And because I was the only staff member, I would train tens to hundreds of community volunteers on how to regeneratively farm in the desert. I made special effort so that anyone of any background, ability, or age could come to find meaningful work. Furthermore, because it was a non-profit, I was able to create a weekly free farmers market for working-poor families that lived in the farm's surrounding food desert. These were families that were coming in for our dinner service and tutoring center for their kids. What we produced was beyond organic and was harvested and grown with so much love... I miss it!!! It was a soulful job filled with laughter, human-connectedness, and physically demanding work. Unfortunately, as vibrant as it was, it was scheduled to be turned into a parking lot so I sadly decided it was my time to leave.

Since then I have worked for a carpenter building his timber frame workshop, I have helped friends do demolition on their homes, and have partnered up with my sister to manage a cabin build in the mountains of my state. Our cabin is almost finished so I am taking the opportunity to take a deep breath abroad to find my next passion. (Preferably somewhere cool, its blistering hot in Arizona haha)

As for me personally, I thrive in ever changing conditions, love problem solving, am a creative, and have a deeply environmental heart. I love nature from soil to bird and spend as much of my time in it as possible. My major love of my life is backpacking and climbing but also love to hike and kayak. I am also a very creative person. I have dabbled in calligraphy, ceramics, sculpture, and painting but love trying to mediums any chance I get!! I pride myself on being coachable and forever student of life.

I feel like this is already too long so I am going to stop here!! :P I would be happy to answer any questions or elaborate on anything I wasn't so clear on!! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon (:

    Sending only good juju,
    Taylor

  • More details about your skills

Regenerative Agriculture: I was a manager for six years of an urban farm utilizing all strategies including irrigation, pre/post harvest procedures, and volunteer management.

Basic Tool Knowledge: Although I would not consider myself an expert by any means, I have throughout my life worked with different tools on different DIY projects so have a basic skill set.

Creativity: I am pretty good at most handi-crafts. I love art and design and all the different mediums that come with that. I have no formal training but have been "hobby-ing" my whole life.

Great Vibes: I know this isn't something you would put on a resume but I do pride myself in being extremely adaptable, flexible, positive, genuine, and down-to-earth. I think these are required qualities while working and living alongside others (:
